Hey gang,

I'm a fairly adept coiler and such, but for the life of me, can't seem to get the wick right for the latest version of the Fogger V4.
I have the newest one, with the wider deck and the smaller channels. The channels are much smaller in the newer version. There is virtually NO horizontal deck channel like the early V4 version, just a vertical channel and a small nub of a horizontal.

If you've had a successful wick on this type, are you pushing the wick into the whole channel, out the bottom channel to the tank, or just a little in the vertical portion of the channel? Disregard the "upgraded fill hole", I borrowed the image.

    No you can't
Cut the wick a little short, don't block the holes, you want the juice to enter freely and the wick to suck it up.

You don't want the cotton in the channel to swell so much that it restricts the flow of juice, I've found less is better.

Also when I've gotten dry hits, I opened the air vents more and went away at once.

Had mine for a wick, chain vaping; no problem after I found out how much wick(thickness is the key) should I use.

Same here, although mine is v4.1 (2nd iteration, the first with threaded AFC). I had to experiment quite a bit until someone mentioned tapering the tails by cutting them in a steep diagonal where they enter the channels, then letting them just barely reach the bottom.

As mightymen said, with this atty and cotton, less is more.. I use fairly wide coils (2.4mm Ø) so I can give them a lot of cotton (thus juice) at the center. I try to form the tail so the center is about the same amount of both tails. That way I'm getting a lot of upwards capilarity and even if I chain vape I seldom get dry hits. It seems counterintuitive and I wouldn't have deducted it in a year but this place is an awesome resource!

i use rayon and just cover the juice channels...none in channel.
have a .4ohm build and not 1 dry hit yet...no gurgling or leaking.....chain vaping too

so your wick is essentially ON the deck rather than stuffed into the channel, like an Aqua?

I seem to be getting better wicking tapering the wick at an angle to the coil and putting the long side into the top of the vertical channel.

Yep, that's why i do too. If there's wick in the channel, then it's barely any.
Here's a potato pic of my build:

And a vid of my results Rayon - YouTube
(both of this was created for the Rayon thread)

As you can see, i use a lot since Rayon wicks great, but then cut it at an angle towards the end so there's barely anything in the vertical channels.
However, this is the old version of the V4. I will receive a black 4.3 today, which should be the version you linked. If you're still interested, I'll report back about the new juice channels and if i can get it to work just as well.

E: Oh.. and I guess i should've asked before: What VG/PG Ratio are you using?
On anything above 60VG i usually have to tighten down the airholes after 2-3 long hits, take some primer puffs without firing and then i can vape again with fully opened airholes.

yes...i cover the channel holes with fluff......i put the chamber with wicks sticking up and out of it...then lightly push fluff of tails onto
    juice channel openings

I'll try to get some raw fiber locally.

Oddly enough, there's a large rayon factory in a nearby town. A long deceased uncle used to work there as production manager and he used to tout rayon as a marvelous fiber —vegetal silk he called it.

Pity he passed away nearly 40 years ago, he was a 2PAD smoker and a heart attack got him. Guess he'd have liked vaping; he was a keen mech & chem engineer.

PS, my wife has Rayon thread at home. Do you think it would be safe to use? White, of course but I fear it might be bleached...
