Quorax, great tuto. Mine just arrived in the vapemail and is now bathing in 98° sugar cane pharmaceutical grade alcohol. I'm gonna shoot for a twin 2mm build measuring 1.6~2.0 ohm each for a res of 0.8~1.0. Thanks for the detailed pics. Hopefully we get to see some more pics of interesting builds here.

Thanks for the appreciation buddy :)

BTW, just finished my first build. Hit 1.0 Ohm on the dot. It leaked horribly through the air holes until I opened it and noticed one of the wicks was touching the hole. Trimmed it, positioned correctly and it's perfect now; poor on vapor and taste compared to the Kfs tho. I'll try later with less cotton.

Poor vapour could be due to over saturation, and clogged up air-channel. I'd disassemble it and clean it up thoroughly ~ then rebuild it. That should bring it back to it's designed / desired performance.

As of now my Fv4 is offering better VTF than my K'funs (all genuine).

Really great tutorial and pics ... I'm really interested in getting one..

Finally back into rba's after taking a 8 month hiatus ... Do you HAVE TO build the Fv4 in dual coil or can it be built in single as well?

(Sorry, I'm a noob again with all these new rebuildable products lol)

Thanks bro :)

You don't have to build dual coils in it. Just like the Aqua > plugging the unused side's juice channels and building alone the other side would work perfectly. However, it'd then be a very under-utilized device ~ b'coz it is designed for duals.

    Hopefully that's the newest version.

No really the first version is great. The latest version is crap. Be glad you got the first version, really the only (small!) problem with it was the air flow control ring being jiggly, but I like the rotating airflow much better than the threaded one (because it leaves a gap and doesn't open fully.

I'd recommend anyone interested in the Fogger V4 to NOT buy the latest version and wait. Check with the vendor that you don't get the latest "V4.2" with the bigger build deck. My biggest problem with it is that I'm UNABLE to fill it without spilling half of the juice.

Less cotton, you should be getting just as good if not better than any kf's..

Thanks Tbev! In coloquial Mexspanish we say "a la tercera va la vencida" (on the third try you succed). Reviewing the tuto for the third time it dawned on me something very well explained in clear English: the wicks go into the channels, not over them; it's not a Kayfun for goodness! I collected the juice once more and wicked it for the third time, now with about half the amount of cotton and all the way down the channels but not coming out. Bingo! At 1.0Ω (one 1.3Ω for flavor over 2mm and one 0.7Ω over 1.4mm for steam) and 13W the clouds are huge and the flavor indeed beats a dripped Kfun.

This one is unbeatable! I'm really glad I got it.

Oh jeezz! Coin in the air... Let's pray for the one I have then. It's now working beautifully.

PS, I had to find the hard way you cannot empty it from the top. LOL! For those still without theirs, you turn it upside down, remove the filling screw, turn it right side up and blow through the mouthpiece. Empties fully and without fuss!

I'm astonished by the quantum leap in design and engineering of atomizers of all types in the last few months. It's unbelievable. When I first saw an Aerotank I thought it was the epitome of design and engineering. Then I got a Kayfun and was sweeped off the floor by it, quirks notwhitstanding. This one is quite another step up, gathering from other designs and collating them into a nearly perfect design.

    Thumbs down:
Filling from the bottom. Looks good, it's uncomfortable.
AFC ring moves on its own volition. Needs click stops.
Posts should have wire trapping holes.
Post screws should be combination phillips/slot. Phillips for convenience, slots for torque.

    Thumbs up:
    Everything else!!! :)

    DeeJay,

Happened to me on the first try with a dripper that didn't fit the hole. 2nd attempt I used a thinner nosed dripper and leaned the atty towards the air hole 30°. Fills without spilling a drop, just do it slowly.

So I just got one and did my first build. First try at cotton too. I did not do micro coils (or is it macro coils?) because i don't have a torch, and only used one coil since it was my first time with both this RBA and cotton. I did not push cotton down those wells, but made sure the cotton covered the top of those wells and the second air hole. Not bad. Throat hit is intense and vapor is good -- both better than my Ithaka clone. Flavor is not as good as my Ithaka clone though. I also think the Ithaka style is easier to build as long as you have pre-joined wire, but again, there are a couple of firsts here for me so my opinion may change. I really like having a glass tank as I tend to shred plastic tanks with the juices I use (had to go with a metal tube for my Magoo).

    Not flooding or leaks yet.

You don't need a torch to do micro coils (under 2mm). Just wrap around a 1.4mm jewelers screwdriver or drill bit and press with your fingers down and pull the wire tight over the form alternatively. After you install them you can dry fire them on your mod and close them with some ordinary tweezers. You can also use an ordinary Bic lighter; just hold the wire with your pliers and run the bic up and down the Kanthal until it glows, several times. Then do your wrapping.

I did not push cotton down those wells, but made sure the cotton covered the top of those wells and the second air hole.

I did that on my two first builds. Leaking on the first due to the cotton over the air hole and lack of flavor on the second. Make some longish coils that reach down the vertical juice channels. Wet them with juice so they stick to the channels and fit inside and clip them about 1mm over the lower deck. Then screw your chimney over. Wicking will improve twofold and so will flavor and vapor.

Me too! I love pyrex tanks. That's one of the gripes I have over the Kayfuns. PMMA just doesn't cut it and the steel section leaves you blind.

Caged, I've been toying with mine all day (and night) long. I think I've got it pinned now. This one is made for dual coils, period. A single is cutting its potential in half. Even a shotgun coiled Kay' doesn't come close to those huge twin airflows dragging tons of steam through that venturi. Try them; it's the same as doing one just with a bit more work. BTW, my last build, which I'll keep until the coil burns out is a lopsided dual. One 2.0mm coil at 1.3Ω for steam (slower) and one 1.4mm at 0.7 for flavor (faster, hotter). The first sits higher than the upper deck and the second lower than it. Spent no more than 15mm perfecting them. I use two drill bits or suitably sized needles to keep the coils in place while I tie them to the posts. I'm working with 30 & 28 Ga.

I have a NET there right now (Bombay from Naturally-Extracted-Tobacco.com) that had never given me such a flavor hit.

Gotcha.. thanks! I just use a single coil on my Kayfun but I'm thinking I might want to step up to dual.. good to know I have the choice to do both if I want - thanks!

Yep it works just fine. I had build a 'single coil' for one of our folks here (she didn't want to go lower than 1.5Ω) and she's doing fine till now.

Just remember to 'plug' the other side's juice channels, else it'd flood. You can use a thick chunk of cotton to plug it. You may leave the unused air-hole as it is, it doesn't hurt.

K.funs are designed towards a single coil and really work better with a well built one and with normal res (> 1.2...). The v4 is truly geared to flexibility with duals; low placed, high... uneven resistance, diameter, length, wick material, etc... e.g. one side thick silica sleeved in mesh, the other a micro with cotton. ;)

I tried. Didn't work. Perhaps it was because I was trying to make it glow while compressing the coils with needle nose pliers. I did find a small screwdriver that seems to do the job for wrapping nicely.

Thanks. I will give that a try, though I will be surprised if I can get flavor comparable to my Ithaka clone. Nothing I have tried comes close to Ithaka flavor though.

I'll try dual coils soon. 13-14 watts on a single 1 ohm (26g) coil is harsh. I think I need to get some 28 gauge kanthal so I can make it work with my PV (Sigelei 20W -- .65 ohm minimum).

I kept telling myself I was going to keep it simple if I went with rebuildables. That was easy enough with an Ithaka clone, but now I see my plan going out the window with the Fogger.

    Thanks for the tips.

No no no no no! Just let it glow red and release the button before pinching. No need for more.

Same setup I have! Running 1.0Ω at 12.0W. Air intake about 20%, terrific flavor.

    Thanks for the tips.

My pleasure! Hope you do get 110% of the atty potential. :)
