I wouldn't come back to the New Members' Forum to post normally, but an earlier thread pointed out that there were a lot of people that wanted some kind of follow up after they had spent time answering the newbie questions.

(I will not be offended if this thread gets moved - I was just trying to address the request from a previous thread.)

Today makes 30 days since I got in my first PV, and in about 1 hour and 15 minutes, it will also mark 30 days since I smoked my last analog. And it isn't for lack of access. I have 4 cartons of cigs, a pack in my purse, packs in the car, packs in the house, etc.

In that same time frame, my husband has only had two analogs, and they both happened the day after we received our PVs (510s) and had gone to the Pub. He had flooded his atty (but didn't realize that was the problem at the time) and had become frustrated, so he went back to analogs. While he was smoking his second one, I remembered reading about blowing out the attys, so I got a paper towel and tried it, figuring it wouldn't hurt anything. It worked! And he switched back to the 510 right away.

It hasn't been a totally smooth ride. 510s have a bit of a learning curve and there are so many opinions on different things varying from how and if you should clean your attys to how your PV should even be oriented when not in use (horizontal, atty up, batt up, etc.). What works for one may not work for another and to a lot of questions, there really is no clear cut answer and that is a bit frustrating. During the first week or two my husband would often get frustrated at the 510 and then even more frustrated because he could hand it to me and it would work just fine. It's not a cut and dry process and we had a hard time figuring out what we were doing different from each other. Was it how we were inhaling, how long, when we pushed the button down, luck, etc. There are no easy answers; you just have to stick with it if you want to figure it out.

Our e-liquid usage is pretty low - maybe 3-5 mg a week. I rarely will use the PV during the day, but I didn't smoke during the day either. I use it on the way to work and the way home and occasionally a few puffs in the evening. When we go out to the pub, I will chain-vape it, just as I did cigs when I drank.

My favorite flavors are Menthol and Whiskey; DH likes the USA Mix. Even though I am a coffee drinker, I haven't been impressed with any of the coffee or cappachino flavors I have gotten.

In total, I think we accumulated 9 attomizers, 10 batteries, 2 chargers, 40 empty cartridges, and an assortment of juice.

My sister would have a cig or two when she drank - less than a pack a week smoker. She got a 510 the same day as I did and still uses hers. She is happy to have it as an option.

I have purchased two 510 starter kits and juice for a couple in their 60s. I purchased a starter kit and juice for a son to give to his father (yes, the son told him what he was doing first.) I walked a couple through ordering two kits. I have had requests for specific places to get these from no less than 10 people. I was able to suggest the 808D-1 kit to another couple of our friends that didn't want to fiddle with the 510.

The first couple is doing great with their 510s.

The couple I suggested go with the 808D-1's are getting there. The wife doesn't like the tobacco flavor that came with it. I think she was going to try the whiskey and menthol flavored cartomizers after taking a few puffs off my 510s with those flavors in them.

So, there is my little update. 30 days and my husband and I see no reason to go back to analogs even though when we started these, it was mostly so that we could get our nic fix without smelling like a cigarette when we knew we were going to have to be around others.

That was an excellent 30 day update. I'm only around 9 days in with my very first e-cig - a KR808D-1 from smoketip.com. I was smoking my very last cigarette the moment I put it together and haven't touched or even wanted an analog since minute-one. 36+ years of 1 to 2 packs a day - DONE!

I have been reading these forums for hours upon hours and I am still learning so much. I've already ordered a new 510 from the wonderful ladies at cignot.com and it should be here tomorrow or Monday and it's almost like getting my first one a week ago - I can't wait to get it!

The very best part I've found so far other than not smoking tobacco is that I can pull it out of my pocket anywhere, anytime and get my nicotine fix, even in my wifes car (she quit smoking 8 years ago). I've refilled my KR carts myself and especially love the RY4 flavor.

Without a doubt this is for me the very best purchase/decision I've ever made and only hope that it works for every single person that tries it. Sure, just the little thought of a real analog creeps into my head, but I just grab my KR and take a nice long vape and I am in my own little heaven.

Good Luck to everyone who tries it!

Steve

Thanks for sharing your experience. I have already stated that I find posts like these really important. I am unapologetic about still smoking analogs and I will only quit when I stop craving them, so far my 901 doesn't do it for me but I have high hopes for the 510 I am getting next week and the Bartleby I should be getting by the end of the month.

I was doing 40+ analogs a day so for me doing 4 or 5 is acceptable for the time being. My hat is off to all of you who have already quit and you guys are my inspiration, please keep posting.

Great post. I need some motivation! With my 510, I've gone from a pack to half a pack of STRONG smokes. Even 36mg juice isn't totally working for me. But i do have hope. Thanks again for your post and congrats to the two of you.

Oh and shortstuff, love the combat action ribbon. Gots me one meeself. No NAM though.

Oh, wow, thank you all so much for the kind comments.
I have been asking the people we get kits for if there was one thing they wish they had known from the start and overwhemingly it is to not judge by the prefilled carts. They suck!, according to my friends. I never tried one because I wanted menthol, but my husband says they are way harshee than the Marlboro type liquid.
Therefore, please do not give up if you have only tried the carts that come with the 510 starter kits. It gets much better!!!
Good luck everyone, and just focus on one cig/analog avoided at a time if your goal is to quit!!!!
(Kind of reminds me how we talk about puppies/kittens or almost babies as well - they are x amount of hours old... then they are x amount of days old... then x amount of weeks old... then x amount of months old...and finally you start talking in terms of years....
If you are trying to quit, focus on hours first - the rest will follow when you are ready.

So my 901 while is helping is not cutting the trick for either when you get your 510 could you let me know if you think it is a major improvement or not?

30 days and my husband and I see no reason to go back to analogs
I finished my last pack of tobacco cigs two days after the 510 arrival and haven't had one since...
I had my last cigarette as I was assembling my Vapor King e-cig exactly four weeks ago. I haven't had an analog since.

Wow! Powerful testimonies! I'm so encouraged by all the stories I've read here on the forum. PV's have obviously helped a lot of people to quit (or stay off of ) analogs. You give a hopeless addict hope! My 1st PV is expected to arrive tomorrow and I hope my experience is as good as so many I've read about here.

Oh bro! I do snus. I haven't ordered anything, just buy the Camel Frost. I love the stuff. Keeps me sane at work. Stuff is like candy to me-can't get enough. I still have that hand/mouth/vape/ addiction.
