Hi Guys,
6 days in & all heck is breaking out with my Absolute EGO-T. First, in response to Kurt, I was worried about the Remy Martin gumming up the atty so I thinned another juice with vodka & kept the Remy Martin to 1 atty.

I'm about to contact Absolute but I want to know if maybe I've done something wrong. I'm not having any of the problems with the tank that I've read about--no leaking for instance.

My 1100 batteries I think are fried. I clocked them today. 3 hrs on a 5 hr usb charge. Initially I was getting 12 hrs. So I'm down to 25% of that on both batteries. More charging now than vaping. 6 days use alternating 2 batteries.

I've noticed all along that the atty would get very hot very quickly no matter how carefully I tried to vape. I don't think it's a wicking problem from what I can tell the atty is wet. It seemed to me that the atty stayed hot so I've been removing it. Maybe I shouldn't have but I cleaned both attys with hot water once & with vodka once.

It's a good thing I still had a couple of my old 510 650 batteries & some atomizers left or I'd be in the crap.

I guess I'm going to continue to drip & use carts when dripping isn't convenient. Any cart recommendations? Also I'm now worried about going with the AbsoluteMax again since the design has changed. Any recommendations for either a 650 or 900(?) replacement?

BTW I can't tell you how bummed I am. The first couple of days I was in heaven.

TIA

Doris

Hi Doris,

First off, the Remy Martin probably would be ok for a while, but over time might make for a gunk. Other people here use JD, flavored rums, and other strong spirits. My advice was not a hard rule, just a pay attention thing. I personally would, if I used alcohol for thinning (I use distilled water), use those juices in a cartomizer...cheap and if they gunk up just toss them. So its more of a money thing than a safety thing.

Hot attys generally mean sluggish airflow. Tank attys are rather notorious for clogs and floods, although they seem less frequent than the original atty/cart for the 510. Make sure the atty has good airflow...you mentioned cleaning it, so it shouldn't be too gunky. Many new users will just hit and hit on an atty that is sluggish and hot. This is a good way of making the atty permanently clogged from internal heat-warping. Overheating the atty continually will also overheat the battery, which will shorten its life, so all other things being equal, this could be what is happening.

But assuming the battery is ok, different resistances of attys or cartomizers will use up a battery at different rates. Low resistance attys/cartos will use the battery faster than higher resistance. You don't mention resistances, which are generally a selling point on a vendor's site, but this could be the issue.

You ask about recs for carts. I have none. When I do use an atty, its a regular one, and I drip with a drip tip. 95% of the time I use Boge cartos, both 3.2 ohm and 2.4 ohm. I love them. I use a drip tip on them, and just top off every once in a while. Consistent vapor and flavor, almost completely leak free, and much less maintenance than an atty/cart system. Some poeple love their tank PVs, and some people have nothing but trouble with them. Personally, I think it is an unfinished technology, like the CE2 cartos, and while the thinking on them was good, there are still bugs.

These are my thoughts, but I would suggest posting this to the eGo forum so you can get more of a back and forth discussion, which sounds like is needed here to really zero in on the problems you are having.

eGo Type Models

good luck!

+1 to what Kurt said ... that is about tanks, cartridges, and atomizers. I have no experience mixing e-liquid and booze. [At least in the same container. Vaping one while sipping the other works well.:D]

IMO, it is best to avoid an e-liquid delivery system that begins or ends with the letter 't', i.e., cart and tank. Stick with cartos (or drip, if you don't mind the frequent effort). I've read great things about the Boge cartomizers that Kurt uses.

My favorite 510 cartomizer is the Smok Tech Mega Dual Coil. Its unique properties (two 3.2Ω coils, providing an effective net resistance of 1.6Ω) deliver a wonderful vaping experience – on many different voltages. Best price I've seen to date is $9/five-pack at LiteCigUSA.

My favorite Kr8 cartomizer is the VOLT from Smokeless Image: $9/five-pack. You can use it on your eGo (and other 510) batteries with an inexpensive 510-to-808/901 adapter, e.g., $2 from Good Prophets or $2.50 from MadVapes.

As for battery recommendations:
  • The best deal on a good-quality fat batt is the 750 mAh Riva-510 from Liberty-Flights: $30 for the 3.2V (i.e., same as eGo) "Lite Bundle" (although there is nothing "lite" about this full two-battery/two-atomizer kit) ... or $35 for 3.7V "Special Edition."

  • I prefer higher mAh (along with that 3.7V), so I went with the 1100 mAh KGO: $45 for chrome, titanium, or black from Hoosier E-Cig Supplier or $43 for black only from BreezEsmokes.

  • For even more mAh, 3.7V, automatic battery, 3-ml capacity proprietary cartomizer, and Kr8/901 compatibility, I also have the 1300 mAh Echo, which I recently reviewed. $60 for a two-battery/two-cartomizer kit from either Cool Vapes (in chrome) or Cropduster901 (in black). [You can use 510-compatible cartomizers on it with an 808/901-to-510 adapter, e.g., from either of the two previously mentioned adapter suppliers.]

  • For really high mAh (2000+), you need to enter mod land with the 18650 battery. Perhaps the least expensive (good quality) tubular one is the 18650 NoEgo from Jazz CartoPipe ($35 for just the mod; purchase batts and charger separately, e.g., from MadVapes) ... or the virtually identical e-Power 2200 from BreezEsmokes (full kit for $55).
