Hi
and welcome
Be patient with yourself as you make the transition.
Be patient with yourself as you make the transition.
Thank you.As someone stated earlier, we didn't have a lot of options in the early days. I started with a little cigalike (similar to today's pods actually) and moved up to Ego and then to mods like Provari. I started with 24mg nic but gradually got down to 1.5 to 3 mg and that is where I remain.
Once I saw it worked, I happily bought/tried different setups as it was money better spent than on cigarettes. As already recommended, always have backups of everything. I had issues with gear the first week so made sure that never happened again. I chain vaped through the cravings and it got easier every day to not smoke.
I had dreams about smoking for several years, that is how powerful the addiction is. I would wake in a sweat thinking I had smoked cigs again. I know I won't go back to smoking but I stay vigilant and I have made sure that I have more than enough gear and diy supplies to last my lifetime. You might want to check into DIY, in case the various governments manage to destroy vaping at some point.
I'll have to keep that in mind. Patients with myself is one of the traits I lack.Hiand welcome
Be patient with yourself as you make the transition.
Thank you.
I'm hoping vaping comes as "naturally" as smoking did for me. I started and there was no going back, one of my worst mistakes over the years.
Once I get a little experience with the one I ordered I'm sure I can figure out what works for me. I'm sure it's different person to person.
I'll deffinantly look into making my own. Put my engineering schooling into use.
Awesome, congratulations.Welcome to ecf. I am another success story with almost 9 years cigarette free. If you tell us a bit about your smoking habit we may be better able to make suggestions as to what to look for. It is a rare person who comes here and says I want anything that does not look like a cigarette. LOL I know my expectations where to have the smokes replaced but quickly learned that once I realized vaping can and does work I wanted no more to do with cig-a-likes or tastes of tobacco. Vaping opens up a whole new world of flavors and possibilites. When you begin your journey in quitting smoking, you will get your sense of taste and smell back, you hair and skin will look better and that is just the start of the amazing journey of ecigs.
If you could also tell us what you are looking for in an ecig. Most of us will tell you that a cig-a-like will never get you off of the smokes as the battery just isn't strong enough to deliver the hit needed. There is always something to learn but its not hard. Most of all you just need to really want to give up cigarettes. How long did you smoke? How much per day? Its these types of things that will help us help you. Lots of friendly, helpful peeps at ecf. You will probably get many suggestions, so being clear on what you are looking for will narrow it down.
Good luck. And remember there are no dumb questions.

That would make sense. What works definitely varies from person to person, your exactly right. People ask all the time, what’s the best ______? The answer is, whatever works for you.
I believe @rosesense was referring to DIY eliquid, no engineering required, but if you can make your own devices as well, all the better.
Congratulations to you as well. It’s been a lot of years since I last smoked. A thing that made a huge difference was finding a flavor of juice that I really liked. That may sound silly (and intuitively obvious), but I flitted from flavor to flavor before settling on a profile that I preferred to cigs. As well, I made sure that I always had a set up, fully charged and ready to go, at hand. In no time at all, it was easier to vape than to smoke.
Best of luck to you. You got this!
Only a smoker realizes just how totally encompassing the act of smoking is. All we hear a about in the news is the keywork NIC NIC NIC, but the habit is much more than just physical. Its emotional, social, psychological and also the act of hand to mouth(keeping hands busy). So the dependence of the nic is in there somewhere but its not the entire picture.Awesome, congratulations.
Well I'm not sure how long I've been smoking at least 10 years. I started young, which is why I think it's gotten such a big hold on me. That was my coping mechanism for so long and so young that's all I've known, if that makes any sense.
I did a bit of research, or as my friends say "got a degree in it", and quickly found out the small pens wouldn't work for me, as you said it wouldn't last long. I smoke just under a pack a day thru out the week and more on weekends as I'm not having to walk out of my work just to do it.
I just recently tried a friends Smok G-Priv with some sort of fruit flavored juice. And quite enjoyed that.
One of my biggest "need to quit smoking" peeves is I hate smelling like cigarette butts.
It does take a hold on all aspects of life. I have a lot of people who raze me for smoking; family, friends, coworkers, ect. And it's nearly impossible to explain to them just how bad it is.Only a smoker realizes just how totally encompassing the act of smoking is. The genius of ecigs is it takes care of all of those needs, so the transition is so much easier on us in all ways.
May I suggest that, at least starting out, is up your liquid intake. Some drink water or tea or sodas, or coffee(your preference). I suggest this for a couple of reasons. You will find(at least at first) that your mouth will feel more dried out--as the eliquid can actually draw some of the moisture for vapor from your mouth. It also helps to flush out the toxins that have built up from the smokes so drinking more will aid in getting them out of your body quicker.
I smoked for a lot of years before find ecigs and there are those who laughed at me when I finally quit because I was washing and painting walls of my house and if I could not get the stench of smoke from my clothes or furniture I would throw it out. Ended up getting a new car, I couldn't take the smell in my old one. So we totally understand where you are coming from.

Well, you are in the right place as most of us know exactly where you are. And we offer all the support you could need or ask for. Now it is steam ahead and don't look back(I know easier said than done lol). But that is what happened to me. I was so ready to quit after several failed attempts during my lifetime. Once I saw that if I gave it an honest shot and it worked I never smoked another one. That happens to some, others still struggle somewhat, and then there are those are addicted to more than just the nicotine. Smokes have a lot of Whole Tobacco Alkaloids(WTA) that people can become addicted to. Most do not realize just how much garbage the FDA allows the cig makers to add to the tobacco leafs. But that is a discussion for another thread. It does take a hold on all aspects of life. I have a lot of people who raze me for smoking; family, friends, coworkers, ect. It gets to the point where you feel bad about smoking which turns on the anxiety when you see them and makes you feel like you need to smoke.
It's a terrible cycle that I'm hoping this helps with.
I always tell people smokers are the best-worst hypocrates. We smoke but we wish that on no one.
All the stories and AA style I've been cigerettes free for x years is a great boost. It brings alot of comfort I'm the decision to switch.
I thank all of you who have commented and shared.
That would make sense.
I'll deffinantly look into that side of it too.
I wouldn't have thought that's something you could DIY.
Oh you're good.Yes, sorry I was not more clear. DIY your own eliquids, much cheaper and fun hobby. That way you can try a lot of flavors and find what you like without breaking the bank. I wish I had gotten into it sooner as I have bought at least 1000 bottles and threw most of them out or gave them to others. I am very picky about flavors.
I am different than many in that nic was never my biggest issue. I can even do zero nic and be ok. I think the nic helps me focus so I still use a low amount.
Awesome, thank you.Welcome Brittany...as you hang out here you'll be introduced to PLENTY of Mods, Tanks, etc....
When looking to buy something I start out on Vapecrawler …
Even if your location is NOT the US...it follows multiple sites with International Shipping...
..

Let us know if you have questions, or if you just want to get to know members, that's ok also. Have a look around ecf. There are so many different threads and vape related subjects, its hard to sometimes know where to go next. Or you can start your own thread topic after 15 post(I think) LOL
