I guess I'd be afraid of it staining my teeth :)

It's unlikely that the food coloring would significantly color the vapor itself (dark liquids don't vape darkly, for example), so you'd only affect the color of the juice itself. Maybe if you had a tank system or juice feeder where you can see the liquid that might matter, but then the food coloring would probably stain the tank and it'd just end up an ugly shade of brown eventually.

Finally, just because something is "safe" to eat or use topically doesn't mean it's safe to inhale. Personally, I'd avoid it unless I found numerous studies saying otherwise. Or at the very least, stick to natural food colorings rather lab-created chemical colorings.

Many of the concentrated food flavorings used in DIY already have food coloring in them. Just go to the DIY section of the forum and read the Guide to DIY - I think they list a lot of flavorings from many companies and for many note if they have coloring.

I am happier when they don't have coloring. Red Dye 40 isn't even a foodstuff - it's from petroleum.

It would work to change the Juice color. I'm not sure anyone has tried that though.

BTW, I know you were just asking...however in my search I found this on the net:

"Blue 1 and Blue 2

Blue 1, used to color candy, beverages and baked goods, may cause cancer. Blue 2, found in pet food, candy and beverages, has caused brain tumors in mice.

Red 3

This food coloring is used in cherries (in fruit cocktails), baked goods and candy. It causes thyroid tumors in rats, and may cause them in humans as well.

Yellow 6

As the third most often used food coloring, yellow 6 is found in many products, including backed goods, candy, gelatin and sausages. It has been found to cause adrenal gland and kidney tumors, and contains small amounts of many carcinogens."

Welcome to ECF!
