CDC director explains what he hates about electronic cigarettes - latimes.com

This mans crap is getting old.

Probably should break the link here*, but this guy is a fool. He states that 1000 people die each day from smoking but in his spurious "5 reasons" none of which represent reality, the one he forgets is 'the smoker who quits smoking to use ecigarettes' and THAT is what will reduce that 1000 number he throws out. Not only is he a fool, but an idiot as well.

He got one thing right: “the plural of anecdote is not data.” In fact, the plural of anecdote is Big data, and Google (and others) are making billions by exploiting the information contained in plurals of anecdotes. It seems however, 21st century data science is but science fiction for Frieden who would very much like to remain locked into the thinking paradigm of the 1960's TCI.

One party has created a history and legislation from anecdotal data, from sweat shops to stoop labor, some of which was completely fabricated.

Thanks for that, I did not realize that. I should have checked out the rules a bit more and will remember that in future posts.

BTW, don't underestimate the ANTZ. They may come across as fools to us (vapers), but the general public might not see it that way and they're definitely no idiots. These guys don't say what they say out of ignorance, it's all a well-planned, well-executed, and very deliberate misinformation campaign. ANTZ have a plan to keep themselves in business by demonizing ecigs, handing the whole industry over to BT on a silver platter, then applying the same tactics that have made them billions from 50 years of anti-tobacco campaign to ecigs. Read that article linked by the OP carefully and tell me if I'm wrong.

I half way agree except that when you consider that they chose to be where they are and their reasons why. They are both fools and idiots in their philosophy, but perhaps not in their rhetoric. 'Clever' is not always 'smart'.

Good find, sonicdsl, thanks for posting!

Notice that Frieden starts each of his 5 reasons with "if." His "reasons" are nothing but conjecture.

So I will make the following statement: "If Director Frieden is really as clueless as he sounds, I am deeply troubled about the future of disease control and prevention in this country."
