This does not mean that there are not issues that need to be addressed with electronic cigarettes. The diethylene glycol that was present in one cartridge tested suggests that more widespread and systematic testing should be done to identify the extent of this problem.

No it does not but at least someone is doing their homework. Only a brand or one cartridges has been found to contain the poison. The other samples did not have it. Simple deduction suggest that the manufacturer should be controlled for the safety of the users. Users have a choice to buy from them or not. My wish is that authorities can setup controls over the manufacturing of the e-juice that it may be save. That is where the attention is needed. Not the batteries, charger, atomizer or accessories.

Mike Siegel is a lone voice singing true to reason in a choir otherwise in harmony to big-pharma written, FDA-approved sheet music.

This entry points to the reason why the actual level of carcinogens found in e-cig samples vis-à-vis those of cigarettes has been omitted in the FDA's reporting of the results of this and other trials: "the purpose of the research is to support a pre-determined conclusion...it doesn't matter what the research actually shows. The authors have apparently drawn a pre-determined conclusion that electronic cigarettes are harmful to the public health and therefore we should discourage people from using these products."
