(for those new to E-cigs) brands you shouldn't touch with a 10-foot pole.

So it has come to my attention that, while there is a thread warning about the dangers of "free trials", which have mostly already had the pants sued off them, there is no thread bringing other sellers to light that are a complete and total ripoff and can be misleading about their product. these people ripoff rebranders. these people are the most dangerous and many sell their products for up to 10 times what they're worth. the people who run these scams are the lowest of the low and will stop at nothing to steal hard earned money from people new to vaping. I will also provide what type of battery these brands use and what you can do if you already bought them. VETERANS FEEL FREE TO ADD TO THIS LIST!

Ripoff Rebranders include:

1. Brand: Green Smoke. These guys may seem good at first to those new to vaping, but are very simply put way over priced. from what I understand their cartomizers aren't very good and are not designed to be opened. the cartomizers aren't the worst part though; the main ripoff here is the batteries. they charge $55 a battery, which, simply put, is OUTRAGEOUS. especially for one of that type.
Technical info an what to do if you bought it: their battery type is called a Kr808D-2. you can buy cartomizers and replacement batteries for a cheaper price from here The Better Way To Smoke - KR808D-2 Batteries

2. Brand: Green Nicotine. just that name makes me cringe. these people are some of the most evil scammers in the E-cig industry, and they are at malls EVERYWHERE. if you see them in your mall tell them what horrible, horrible people they are. Not only are the batteries a rip-off, they charge $50 for a 10 pack of cartomizers made of metal that CANNOT be refilled without being modded. what's worse than their outrageous prices, though, is the slanderous lies they tell about other E-cigarettes, and how they back the fears spread by the FDA. They do not sell flavors other than 2 tobacco and 1 menthol, as they feed and capitalize on the lie that flavors are made to attract children (BS). they claim other atomizers are made of nickle mesh and get metal particles (most are made of a heat resistant nickle-chrome alloy which doesn't get particles in the vapor at all!), they say that all e-cigs, except them, "use ethalyne glycol as a base, and they use propalyne glycol instead", LIES. ALL E-cigs use either propalyne glycol or vegetable glycerin. small amounts of dyethalyne glycol were found in one cartridge by one crappy gas station brand tested by the FDA. people at the kiosks will even tell you that the FDA likes them and wants to pass them soon, this is a complete lie.

Technical info and what you can do if you bought them: Green Nicotine uses a battery type called the KR808D-1 (DO NOT CONFUSE THIS WITH THE KR808D-2, THESE ARE 2 TOTALLY DIFFERENT MODELS, THEIR CARTOS ARE NOT NOT NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ONE ANOTHER!!!!!!!!). in my opinion, the best kr808D-1 supplier out there is Vapor4Life-Because it's your life - E-Cigarettes/Smoking Alternatives and if you bought anything from green nicotine, here's my advice: buy cartos for your green nicotine battery from them, and once it takes a crap on you (which, trust me, happen sooner than later), just get a vapor4life battery. AN IMPORTANT NOTE IF YOU DO THIS: green nicotine reverses the polarity on their batteries, so don't try to charge Vapor4life's batteries on Green Nicotine's charger, or the other way around. also, here's a video somebody made showing you how to mod GN's cartos so you can put your own E-liquid in them. ONCE AGAIN VETERANS, PLEASE POINT OUT OTHER PREVALENT SCAMMERS LIKE THESE TO WARN PEOPLE NEW TO VAPING!

premium electric cigarette... a single battery and 2 carto kit for like 70 bucks from a local smoke shop ended up being just a kr8.
cig2o, another kr8
colorado electric smoke (think thats the name). supposed to be a 510 but way overpriced
blu cig
green smoke

I heard blu was actually somewhat decent, especially now that they use cartos. theres better stuff but from what I'm seeing the prices seem fairly reasonable and it's not a bad option to start out with. a buddy of mine brought his into my college and I tried a puff of the cherry flavor and it wasn't bad.

To add...

IMHO, the use of the descriptor "Green" in the product title is a blatant and brazen attempt to snare those who are "socially concerned" into buying the product. As all things 'green' seem to be fashionable, of late, this is naught but cashing in and, whilst it does represent an attempt at the raison-d'etre of any business - making money - it is distinctly underhanded.

I would add 'natural' and 'health' to the shady words associated with PV marketing.

I agree with your list, especially the last two. I would add, Smoke Everywhere and Njoy. Just about any brand that only provides automatic batteries. The only exception might be the new Bloog.

Rule of Thumb: the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance.

Blu is overpriced, but since they switched to the carto system their products ARE quite good. It's about $20 more than it should cost, but the PCC, second charger, and amazing warranty make it worth it.
Only beef I have with the blu is that the battery life is horrible. It's to be expected. But I wouldn't knock blue. They'll replace dead parts for up to one year.

Don't buy from anyone or anywhere that advertises with the following claims or makes these statements:

Our cartomizers equal 1 pack of cigarettes. (Really? A pack of smokes would last me a day. I have yet to find a cartomizer that can last me ALL DAMNED DAY!)
16mg = High Nicotine Strength (So, is that why I'm vaping 18mg right now?)
A 180mAh battery will last up to 4 hours. (Only if you aren't vaping very often. Don't you really mean they last a little over an hour and take 4 hours to charge?)
You can use these ANYWHERE. (Only if the establishment allows it. If you really think you can get away with using it anywhere you please, you're in for a rude awakening.)
A cartomizer can't be refilled. (I really love this outright lie in an effort to extort more money from their customers.)
Juice is $25 for 5ml. (Another ploy to extort more of your hard earned money.)
Our starter kit is only $69 and comes with one battery, one charger and a 5 pack of cartomizers. (Say what??? Even a 510 starter kit is cheaper and comes with 2 batteries.)

njoy express is not a bad ecig for the price...20 bucks for a batt and 5 cartos...and you can refill them. got me off the smokes for almost three months. they are by no means the best out there, but they are widely available at 7 elevens and pilot gas stations. i wouldnt recommend them to get someone off cigs but i would say good start to someone who tried them.

When I started researching ecigs I found that Greensmoke was rated the highest of all of those kinds of companies, even considering the pricing. THANK GOD I found this forum. I am happy with my eGo. And even though I've spent a fair deal of cash on it so far, I think I would've spent 10 times more if I went that that venue.
