Within 2 weeks I was breathing much easier. I used to hack for 30 minutes after going to bed before I could sleep. That stopped. I used to hack in the morning when I woke. That also stopped.

But...

Every couple of days, I would feel the need to cough up junk, and produce phlegm. Then maybe once a week. Then maybe every other week. And so it went. Further and further apart. Now, almost 4 months analog free, I haven't had one of those incidents in over a month. I'm told that's my body kicking out trapped garbage from my smoking days. Either way, it wasn't the same as a smoker's cough. It was a "there's loose stuff in your lungs" cough (like when you're getting over a cold. My smoker's hacks were more brutal and rougher)). And once I brought it up, it was over. My lungs feel pretty clear now. Granted, after a 23 year heavy smoking habit, they're not 100%. But they are already markedly improved.

As far as withdrawal goes, it was much easier on me than the umpteen other times I tried to quit. I never had a "nic fit." The only real withdrawal I felt was psychological, and even that was limited to brief episodes - the frequency of which became further and further apart, as well as shorter and less severe. I could usually just chain vape my way out of it. It helped that I already much preferred vaping to smoking.

I did not suffer any noticeable anxiety or irritation. I'm north of 40, so acne wasn't an issue. I didn't notice a marked increase in appetite either, or better put: I didn't eat for the sake of hand to mouth. So no weight gain.

But the list of POSITIVE changes would outweigh any of the above even if they had occurred or were more pronounced:

- My endurance is increasing
- More energy
- Sleeping MUCH better
- Improved mood
- Marked decrease in migraines*
- I don't have yellow teeth/fingernails/skin
- I don't smell like a stale ashtray
- My senses of taste and smell have dramatically improved
- I used to get winded after only a flight or 2 of stairs. It takes 4 times that now (and that will get even better over time)
- And lastly, to put it politely: in regards to male specific health/function - it's like the clock turned back 15-20 years.

* I cannot definitively say my migraines decreased as a result of quitting smoking. But for the past 3 months, I've gone from averaging 3-4 a week, to maybe 3 every 2 weeks. Whether that is directly due to quitting smoking, or a secondary result of other health changes (breathing better, sleeping better, etc), I don't know. But they have decreased.

I was a 2 pack a day smoker for 30 years.Ive vaped off and on for the past 4 years and finally went completely analog free 3 months ago.

About 3 weeks in I was incredibly sore and tired for about a week. I attribute this to all the other toxins from cigarettes leaving my body and also experienced pretty bad zits for a couple of weeks due to high vg juices but other than that its been a pretty smooth transition.

Yeah, I was sore and tired. I had sleep issues. I broke out pretty bad but it's starting to clear up. My pee is darker (gross) but I think that's from toxins leaving my system. I don't cough anymore. My skin is getting prettier and less dry. I have lost 8 FREAKIN' POUNDS! Woot! I can run, I just chose not to.

Hi,
40 a day for nearly 50yrs.
Discovered ecigs and was down to 2 smokes a day within 5 days and decided I could do without them altogether. It'll be 6 months next week and even though I have 200 cigs in the cupboard I don't even think of having a smoke.
The only side effect was a bad case of the munchies for the first week or so but that passed and my diet went back to normal.
I have suffered a setback over the last couple of weeks with a very bad chest and loads of phlegm but I saw my doc this morning and its just a chest infestion and nothing to do with vaping.

I started getting dry nose and throat for a few weeks till I increased my water consumption. Other than that I had NO withdrawls from quitting smoking. I did have coughing up tons of phlegm for a few weeks as my body was ridding itself of the junk in my lungs from smoking, but after a few weeks I started feeling GREAT. Breathing easier and fully, energy abounding, just totally feel better in every capacity.
Before e-cigs I had tried everything to quit and failed miserably, patches, gum, chantix, wellbutrin, cold turkey, you name it I tried it. the side effects were horrendous and I gained weight and felt miserable.
Now I am smoke free and love it!

7p tonight will be my 1 week-iversary, 10 days total vaping. Things I've noticed so far:
  • My lungs are cleaning themselves out. It's both gross and inspiring.
  • My resting heart rate is down from 61 last spring to 57ish.
  • I have to make sure to eat and drink consistently throughout the day, I'm much more sensitive to changes in my blood sugar now.
  • I've not craved a cigarette since I started vaping. No nic fits, no anxiety, no fixation, nothing. Will get a headache if I vape on an empty stomach, but otherwise nothing (even when dropping from 18 to 14 to 8mg throughout the day).
  • I don't have quit zits, per se, but I do have some minor facial skin irritation. Nothing more than what I normally get when stressed, and I'm almost certain it's my body detoxing the extra crap in the smokes.
  • My gums bleed less.
  • My sense of smell was pretty fantastic even as a smoker. Now I have nasal ADHD.
  • I was already exercising regularly, 5-10 hours a week depending on time of year. We're just now getting back from our off season so I'm excited to see how things improve as I ramp back up.
