So with the way the oilfield is in decline world wide my company will be doing layoffs and the majority that still will have a job will be working less. Pretty much equal to a 30% decrease in pay. So to save money i want to make my own premium quality juice but know nothing about it or where to get any supplies at all. Any suggestions so i can get enough to last while i can still afford it.

I do have enough to last me a few months but its from online and not premium quality so its not as good in a rda as it is in a tank i will probably be looking into a good rta also to save. I have other job opportunities but i have to look at short term vs long term regarding making enough to get by. So cutting cost anywheres right now is the only thing for sure now. I will look into places mentioned above and compare. The only other possibility i see is being soon i will be working less i could maybe get a part time job at a vape shop hopefully my friend has an opening at his. I really wouldnt want to work for a competitor of his just to be able to get juice for almost nothing.

"Forced into DIY"....?

You say that like it's a bad thing?

It's very satisfying and extremely inexpensive and you get to customize your liquids....

What's not to like?

RTSVapes.com has all you need... $50 for a liter of 100 mg nic and tons of flavors. Essential depot may be a better choice for the PG/VG as they offer a gallon of each shipped for about $50 total

Believe me, Robert, DIY juice is BETTER than store bought juice, once you get the hang of it and find the flavors you like. I have not bought any vendor juice in over a year and have no plans to ever do so again. You have found the right forum to learn more about crafting you own, custom tailored juice. :)

Hey Robert.........Perhaps if you look at starting DIY juice as a new endeavor rather than "forced labor" so to speak you will enjoy it much more. Before I started making my own juice I was constantly searching for that perfect combination and spending a ton of money in the process. Not that you can't spend a bunch doing DIY, but once you have your "start up" costs covered the cost per ml is very low. You will then have the flexibility to make any juice you can think of and fine tune it to just your tastes. For me it's a fun thing to do and when I hit that home run with a new flavor sensation it's a great feeling of satisfaction.
I know I tend to ramble but I hope what I say makes sense.......:toast:

I don't mind it - I too started DIY to save money, more to allow more money for mods (REO!) than overall budget constraints.

It's not bad.. Took a few days to find some ready to vape juices, haven't tried any that require long steeping times... YET

Here's how I started (back in October):
1) Research: blogs above are good & Find good recipes! Recipes some times aren't specific with what brand of flavoring to get, and the flavor is different with each brand. I wanted a few recepes to try that were highly rated and all the flavor was from the same manufacture, so I looked up TFA recipes. Heres a link to what I found: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B5rhNaN5v1yPd21hYlFuWDE2aGc/edit
2) Place your order. I ordered from WizardLabs.us I got 1 bottle of flavor for each of the ingredients in the dozen recipes I found that I wanted to try, a 250ml bottle of VG, a 120 ml bottle of 24ml Nic in VG (which I dilute down to 3 mg or so), 2 25ml syringes, 3 1ml syringes, 3 3ml syringes, 3 16ga needle tips, 3 20ga needle tips, 3 5ml bottles for testing. My first order was about $70 with enough juice and VG to mix probably 270ml of juice or more. not bad for the price of 3-6 30ml bottles of the pre made stuff. So far I've only thrown out about 45ml of liquid from flavors I tried and weren't for me. I ran out of PG and ordered a 500ml (I think) bottle, and now thats about gone and the first bottle of 24nic will probably be finished off with it.
3) wait for your order :) Wizard Labs is in florida.
4) calculate your juice - i use the iVape app on iOS, but there are a plethora of juice calculators out there. Personally I have a spreadsheet that I put all the ones I've tried and put the mix down for a 5ml bottle and a 30ml bottle with the percentages as well. I printed it and keep it with my juice stuff so I don't have to worry about opening an app and finding what I'm looking for.
5) Mix juice in 5ml bottles for testing
6) enjoy and make more or dump juice and wash bottle
7) since out syringes with hot water

I mix in existing glass dropper bottles I have from previous juice purchases that I've washed out, though I'm going to look for some higher capacity containers for mass mixing juices I like.
I've made two subsequent orders from Wizard labs in the last few months, both at about $60 to re-up on flavors I like and order pg/vg/nic and some extra 3ml syringes (I use those most, and the vg seems to wear the numbers off of the outside after repeated use).
I usually mix 90mls at a time, and it probably takes about 20 minutes from pulling stuff out to rinse.

It's not terrible, probably the worst part is trying juices that need to steep or just taste nasty :)

You've noticed that too, eh? I swear to god, I can get stuff from AZ, CT, NM, and WA before I can get stuff from one state away -- if that state is Florida. I think the USPS down there must all be out working on their tans.

I just started mixing myself. Honestly I don't find it very difficult ATM. I'm using one to three flavors in my mix, that does simplify it a bit. I would recommend starting out with 36MG-49MG per ML nicotine solution as anything above *60 or so can actually cause burns if dropped on the skin. *I believe it's 60 and up* If you really want to penny pinch you will want to go with 100MG per ML NIC, however you need to take EXTREME CAUTION. If you have kids or animals around I wouldn't risk it and use the 36mg per ml NIC.(36mg can still be very lethal) I'm using the 36 ml NIC, a few bucks isn't worth possibly having a hazmat situation ETC.

I would also recommend getting a PG based NIC (As it's easier to mix) Unless you have a pg allergy or want to mix 100% VG. In the mean time can you give us some information on the type of e-juice you like? Do you like the sweet stuff, more of a tobacco person, or? What nicotine strength e-liquid do you prefer? I will attempt to add additional information later, I'm a little busy ATM. The more info you give us the more we can possibly help.

Good luck and please read up! :toast:

I recently placed an order at wizard labs and it took 3 days excluding new years, and I'm in Ohio.

Shipping times can be very odd, and seemingly random. I remember my ex used to make hair bows, head bands and accessories for young girls, and she would order some stuff from China, some from USA and some from Canada, and in most cases the stuff from China managed to arrive first.
I can confirm ^^. I've had the same sort of stuff happen. Oddly enough the closer I am to a company it seems like it takes longer. *Shrug*

I get what some of you mean by what i said. I dont exactly see it as forced labor exactly but its sooner than i wanted too and as mentioned i do understand the dangers of highly concentrated nicotine and i can only vape just over 3 mg at most. Even 6 mg is to much and i dont like the throat hit either i prefer 80% vg and 3 mg.

I know if i can get good enough quality ingredients I won't have a problem with vaping on some juice i made. Although i have tried some from online like from mtbaker and a few i have tried are really good to me just not good enough quality for me to use in my rda. Ill spend some time doimg my research and maybe i can get my friend to give me the recipes to his house line in his shop while i cant afford it.

Also thank you all very much for the tips and direction i have bookmarks for every page posted so far so i can start ordering as soon as i am able to.

question....if I am just starting and want to just try to get the hang of all this, can I buy premix nic juice in my own mg and then add flavoring to it to get my feet wet? I know it will dilute my nic level, but I would start out with a 12 or so to get to a sample of lower nic, which I don't mind. Then I figured I could do 20-25% flavor mixes to 75-80% nic mix just to get an idea of IF IF IF I can do this. And I assume the flavorings will make up my PG percentage since aren't most flavoring PG based?

I hope this isn't consider hijacking a thread.....am just looking for a hand.

Hijacker :p

I suppose you could, but you are just taking out 1 step, and it's not a particularly difficult step. I buy higher nic incase someone wants me to mix for them, or if I want to add some PG to it without dropping the nic level. you can buy 24 and mix it 50/50 with raw vg to get 12... but your way is an option too :)
The e liquid calculators take most of the work out of it :)
