Hi everyone! I just wanted to thank you all for helping to get me off of those terrible death sticks. I don't think I could have done it without all the encouragement, wealth of knowledge, and your willingness to share that knowledge with others. I am 30 years old and I had been smoking a pack a day of Marlboro Reds for the last 15 years. As my 30th birthday approached I began to reevaluate my lifestyle and decided that it was time to quit smoking. I just felt awful. I couldn't breath, smell, taste, was always tired, and I smelled disgusting. I had tried to quit countless times in the past and the most recent attempts had been with the use of njoy and blu and stuff like that that you get at the gas station. Never made it more than a day with those. Just never did it for me. Then one day I saw a coworker with her vape pen. I was intrigued and started asking questions. She was new to it as well and didn't have many answers. So I decided to do my own research. I spent the next 3 months researching which is how I stumbled across this amazing forum. Almost every answer to my questions came from you guys (the rest came from folks like Grimm Green, Pbusardo, and RiP trippers). Anyway, I decided it was time to take the plunge and bought an ego twist with a protank 2 mini and I had 2 cigs that day. The next day no cigs at all until I started drinking. My girl went out for a smoke and I caved and went with her. I took 4 drags off of it and realized it tasted nasty and all I wanted was my vape! I put it out and haven't had a cig since. Its been a little over 3 months. After about a month I realized this wasn't just a way to stop smoking for me it was a hobby. I was so into it and wanted to learn everything I could to give myself the best experience. After more research I decided on the MVP 2. LOVE it! Hated the Iclear30 it came with though because the draw was soooo tight. I thought my head was going to implode while taking a draw. So I picked up a protank 2 wicked it with cotton and now I'm in heaven. Just waiting on my kanthal now so I can rebuild those crazy inconsistent coil heads from kanger. I gave my ego twist to my girl and she is 2 months without a cig now! We both feel amazing. I haven't felt this good in... well I dont remember the last time I felt this good. After 6 months of lurking here I decided it was time to join this amazing community to continue to get new info and to hopefully pay it forward to others with what I've learned. Thank you all so much for everything. Oh and I'm sorry if this was really long winded, I just started typing and couldn't stop. Vape on!

I started with 18mg and wanted to decrease that so I dropped to 12mg, but that wasn't really enough for me. So now I've been buying a 12mg and an 18mg of the same flavor and mixing them and that was good for me so I think I'll continue that until I get to 0. Initially my goal was to work my way down to 0 nic and then quit altogether, but now I don't think I want to quit vaping. I just enjoy it too much

Thanks for posting you story, and congratulations on your great success (and your girl, too.) I never get tired of stories like this.

A big welcome to the forum, too!:)

Thanks. And yes I'm so glad my girlfriend was able to make the switch. After I realized I would never go back to cigarettes I started thinking about if I could still bewith someone that smokes.

I tried to go to fast dropping 6mg a week was ok the first few weeks, but hit a wall at 6mg. I also noticed at that time my stress level went up at work so I attribute the wall in part to that. From here on out Ill drop 1mg lvl every 2 weeks. I have a good deal of money invested in my vaping gear so it's a hobby and a collecting thing as well for me. I love the sensation of smoking so if I can get that vaping, I'm all over it. Good luck with it its been a life changing experience for me.

Welcome Lefty:). Glad you and your girl were able to find an alternative to smoking. I'm almost 3 months smoke free and sooooooo happy. I love the flavors of vaping, and I still get the satisfaction of the "draw" like I did from smoking. I never have used anything more than 12 mg nic - I'm hovering around 4-6 now. I'm happy with my hardware and have a great B&M from which I get my juices (albeit more expensive than DIY). I wish you and your lady all kinds of success!
