At 8 a.m. US East Coast Time, Wednesday 22nd (12 midday UTC), ECF will begin the changeover to new forum software. We are moving from vBulletin to XenForo. There will be a new appearance and new ways of using the forum, as everything will change at this time. The old forum boards, threads, posts and blogs will all be present and in the same positions - but the new forum has significant differences both in appearance and operation.

The forum will go offline for around 1 hour at 8 a.m. E.C. on Wednesday.

Then the forum will come back online for at least 24 hours as a read-only board (no posting). This time period may extend to 48 hours.

Then, we will move across to the new forum, which will be fully operational at this time.

We expect to switch over at lunchtime Friday, although the changeover may possibly be quicker than expected.

We will keep posting updates on the ECF Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/e.cigarette.forum
...and on the front page of vaping.com: http://vaping.com
...and when the changeover is completed, it will be announced on the ECF Twitter account: @ecigaretteforum

You can also logon to ECF LiveChat, which is now open:

- ECF will go offline for around 1 hour at about 8 a.m. East Coast, Wednesday 22nd.

- For at least 1 day the forum (old version) will be non-operational: in place and accessible, but read-only.

- By lunchtime Friday we hope to have switched over to the new forum.

- You can check the move status via Facebook, vaping.com, or LiveChat.

We apologise for the disruption - it is unfortunate but can no longer be put off. The move has been under discussion for over a year, but was put off due to the scale of the task: it takes more than 12 hours to move the database across, for example. It cannot be done in the background because a forum is constantly being updated with new posts - so any background switch-over would mean losing up to 2 day's worth of posts, which is not acceptable. Once it's done, it's done... for many, many years - with luck :))
