If you are on an office machine, consider getting a portable version of Firefox on a USB stick.

On a stick?

Good holy God, what a combination.

The irony is that at this moment, I'm driving an Edsel, sipping from a bottle of New Formula Coke.

But, everything's working now.

Why is using Vista with IE7 such a horrible combination? I do prefer Windows 7 (have it on my laptop), but honestly, I've not had any problems with Vista on my desktop.

I use my desktop primarily for work and although I'm not an Explorer fan, I have to use it for now. So, are you suggesting that I use Firefox for Internet use unrelated to my work? I've never thought about using Firefox on a USB stick for personal use. Thanks for the suggestion.

Don't know why Vista got such a bad rap -- I use 7 now, but I had very few (can't even recall what they were) problems with Vista.

IE7 on the other hand has many problematic issues, especially security related. IE isn't my everyday browser but if I was so inclined I would upgrade to IE9 -- check it out. (Edit--If I had read the entire conversation carefully I'd have noticed you are "stuck" with IE7- It's late, whoops!)

Edit -- I just upgraded Firefox today to version 4 . So far so good -- It's subjectively quicker and the whole look has been streamlined. No-script works fine after the upgrade.

Alex ,

It seems the ECF Veteran, burgundy title is propagating at a prodigious pace.

EDIT: I think I've got it figured. Is the Veteran title based on longevity? It's my one year ECF anniversary.

I thought the Veteran title was based on this : "You can ask a question here and have it answered by experienced ECF members - the Vets are long-term members, and many have specialties such as hardware, eliquids, or chemistry. "

Looks like I failed the first day out. :0

Anyways, thank you ECF members for giving me your time. There's much to love here.
