Forums To Exclude From View

On another vB site that I frequent there was an option in the setting to exclude certain sections from the main page and from the "New Posts" view. The new posts view is my main concern as I would like to have the option to exclude a few sections that I could care less to see. They are some very active sections that have nothing of interest for me. Being able to exclude these would save going through many pages of "new posts" to find something interesting.

Would it be possible to get this feature turned on?

I know this isn't exactly what you're asking but you can collapse the sub-forums. Click on the little arrow on the top right of each sub-forum.

I dug around a little bit and talked to the tech guy at the other forum. Turns out that this is a mod for vB 3.xx that hasnt been updated for 4.xx. It is semi-compatible with 4.xx but looks to require a few changes to the script to work well with 4.xx. That info was from mid-2010 and I didn't find anything more recent.

Looks like I may be SOL on this request.

not sure which sections you'd like to exclude but have you tried ''today's posts'' under ''what's new'' - in that category all social groups are excluded ......

That will do just fine. Seems the most active sections are the social groups, vendors, and classifieds. Just clearing those makes the search much easier.

and that reminds me - there was talk about a year ago of swapping out the locations of 'new posts' and 'today's post' and give the more prominent spot on the toolbar to 'today's posts' which excludes sections first time visitors to the forum might not find helpful ......
