They had a story about ecigs this morning. Very disheartening! They showed a cig a like and parroted every negative thing they could...the belief that some have that flavors like cotton candy and captain crunch are marketing to kids for one thing. They had a dr talking about how the long term effects are unknown. They said that luckily the FDA is figuring out how to regulate this industry. They want opinions on fb about ecigs. https://www.facebook.com/myfoxdc

Saw this piece this morning. Typical Fox 5 "news" item. Save the children! Save the Children! The doctor was clearly against e-cigs without knowing much about them. We are going to have a problem with the flavors though. Capt. Crunch, Cotton Candy......pretty close to Joe Camel. They will continue to pounce on that. E-cigs are going to have to be regulated like cigarettes just to satisfy the "save the children". I'll take that as opposed to outright banning.

Also, the Christian Science Monitor has an opinion piece online which states that this is the time to regulate e-cigs. Really plays up the fact that since the tobacco companies are moving into the market and that most of the equipment (and some of the juice) are made in China, there is no risk of American job loss if they are banned. Not a great argument, but doesn't help us either.

Screw the media. The sheeple will do what they are told. That is why if someone has something to say about me vaping, I educate them and also point to some good resources. I make sure to tell them that it is not a healthy alternative but a healthier, much healthier alternative to smoking. Money talks these days and BT and BP have plenty to go through. Grrrrrr. OK, going to rant on the FB site now.

Made in China, huh?

Gonna ban cellphones, notebooks, laptops, pads, ..., etc. too ?

I agree with you, but that is the jist of the article. Banning e-cigs is not going to put some poor tobacco farmer out of work. Apparently this was an argument used by the tobacco industry for years to protect their subsidies. Here's a broken link to the CSM opinion article:

There's 101 pages in this forum where Fox News has been mentioned. About 70% of the 'news' has been more positive than negative for ecigarettes. Their 'Doctors' are mainly anti, but commentary on recent developments are not, usually. Not so true of the mainstream liberal media, the majority (not all) of which have only parroted the lies and distortions of the anti's. For those that post here regularly, most would have to admit that is much more 'typical' than Fox stories.

If for every major news media anti-ecig story that comes here, I'd feel the need to comment that it is 'typical' of the liberal media, I'd have a lot more posts in this forum than I do.

Can't find where they're soliciting the opinions. Perhaps they guzzled too much cotton candy flavored vodka and inadvertently deleted it...

I left a comment on that csmonitor article. I'm thinking they should change their name to Christian Junk-science Monitor.

I didn't see where they are asking for "opinions". No mention at all in fact. Yet - it's "DC" and even FOX takes forever at times.
