Hi everyone, new to the forums. I usually dont ask for help here or anywhere actually I usually search for answers online but I just bought the freemax mesh pro tank and popped in the single mesh coil, 0.15 kanthal. It says recommended is 40W - 70W. I'm running it at 55W on a voopoo drag using cotton candy by happy end. The juice doesnt say the VG/PG amount but its viscosity isnt the thickest either so no problems with it soaking through the cotton. it's also a new coil, theres no burn because I visibly cannot see any dark markings inside or out, and I let the just seep into the cotton and have primed it, dry hits and all as I usually do. My friend has the same tank with the same juice, that being the reason for me buying it because the flavor was great but for some reason I just taste cotton. No flavor from the juice itself even after 7 hits. Any recommendations?

Have you primed the coil from the top and from the side before installing it on the base?
Yes. I always do with every new coil. I'm trying out the double mesh right now to see if theres a difference. This is what I do. I open the coil, set it to the base of the tank, prime it by using a couple drops on the sides and on top of the inside ring of the coil, I pop the glass and the top on, fill it, let it sit while occasionally taking no fire hits... Idk if I missed something but damn, what a disappointment lol. It tastes just like that bleached cotton I used to get when I used RDAs. The all all natural cotton never did that but like some bleached cotton gave off a distinct cotton taste. Maybe that's just the problem.

When you drip drops from the top, tilt the coil and turn it so liquid seep the entire cotton.
If this won't work try another juice if you have.
I just think freemax stocks their tank sets with cheaper cotton in the coils. My friend is running the exact same setup even down to the juice and the only difference being is his coil came from a seperate, bought pack of coils. The ones that come with the tank are obviously just crap

There is no difference in cotton between coils purchased separately vs coils that came bundled with a tank, assuming the same model coil is being evaluated.

If you still taste cotton after finishing a tank, I would try a different juice. No explanation as to why yours tastes different than your friends. Have you confirmed power setting between the devices? Try a different coil.

Same settings down to the same juice. I used both coils now as well. I only say they use cheaper cotton because I have searched and found multiple people with the same issue... No flavor or a cotton taste.

How is the double mesh going?
Only slightly better unfortunately. I tried my other tank to tell if it was the juice but I taste that one way more... I dont understand tbh I may go back to the vape shop to get others opinions. it's also very possible that I may not work well with mesh coils! Maybe my taste buds cant react to it.. idk. Normal coils still taste fine to me. I'm going back to RDAs LOL

Then steal one of your friends coils when he is not looking. A quick switcheroo ;)

I know this does not help, but I have never experienced issues with my Freemax Mesh coils tasting like cotton.
LMAO! I might just do a quick switch xD but it is unfortunate because I love the flavor on my friends freemax... it just isnt meant to be )):

I am of belief that every wick requires a bit of break in. I like to refer this to be seasoned, kinda like how you marinate a steak. Some wick requires more break in than others and said break in is a subjective perception which can differ between individuals. I find Cotton Bacon requires more break in than Muji cotton, as an example. But there are people who find CB does not require more breaking than Muji.

How many tanks has your friend put through the coil? Perhaps his wick is more broken in (seasoned) than yours.

Yeah I definitely agree with that. It's a multitude of reasons but I believe the main nto be a kind of placebo in a way. I think me thinking about it from the first coil tasting distinctly like cotton, put my mind into some sort of trance that it doesnt taste like anything. After all, taste buds send signals to the brain so its definitely just the combination of same juice, the first coil, and giving myself that preconceived thought of it having no flavor. I'll just wait for my next juice and hope I wont think if this moment XD thanks for your replies! :)
