Nice patriotic looking line-up there. Congrats.

Got two chalice attys going right now myself. One on a woodvil and other VV woodvil but its all good.

BTW you need some REO mods big comfy button toppers on those bad boys.

So far I'm not diggin the chalice as much as the hornet? Coil was a pain too in comparison. Maybe I just need some time with it? It is also very airy, and the idea of comdomizing it doesn't appeal to me. The build quality is definitely stellar though.

I also like the look of the hornet better but I like the way the chalice unscrews. I almost threw that thing (while attached to my ohm doohicky) while trying to get the coil right. It is easier to wick than the hornet (and hornet is easy).

I definitely prefer the hornet right now. Gonna revisit the chalice in the near future again.

Thanks for the compliments all. I am diggin this grando.

I agree. You can't have too many of these things. Even when ya think you're good, you find a reason to convince yourself you need another (or 2). Rob will feed your monster.

Its all personal preference I guess. I can coil a chalice in about 90 seconds start to finish .... and I drilled both mine out with a bigger air hole :D

Everyone has their favorite gear though, thats whats great about having choices. The more the merrier.

very nice collection of reos!!!

I have a weird way that I set up coils on my chalice, the first end of wire goes in one direction and the other end faces the other way. I find it works better for me. I probably didnt explain it well, but have a play around with it. The way the holes line up on the chalice is a little annoying but its an awesome RBA.

Try Jan's (JCOkie) sidewinder method on the chalice.....put the coil on the side of the chalice rather than in the middle. It doesn't have to be right over the hole, since a good squonk will feed it enough juice to get wet and suck most of the excess back into the bottle. Hella easier to recoil that way.

Thanks to some help from Tim and hildicat I learned how to make the diagonal coil, and push it low in the bowl (not touching). I was observing how it wicked when squonking and its amazing - a good press of the bottle actually pools up and wets the wick that is right over the hole (the part with the coil wrapped around it) and the excess goes right back down the hole. there is near immediate rewetting as opposed to waiting for the juice to reach your wick and rewet the part wrapped by the coil.

I must admit that this baby tried my patience when I first got it, but now i would fiercely defend it if someone were to try to take it from me. It and my REOs. I'd give em most anything else.

Sweet coil!

Thanks Joe! I have had some great tutelage from you and others. I'm in damn good hands. Lovin that rolled cotton too - what a find bro. Rewicking the chalice is about as easy as changing a carto, just about a buck 39 cheaper.
