Hello All,

I have a friend at work who i got into the ecig scene. He bought an ego and some atomizers/catros to see which he likes best.

As it turns out, he is not liking his cartos at all. He just recently bought them and is reporting a burned taste. Is there a way that he could have screwed up the carto's during this learning phase? I have never used a carto, so i cant really give him any advice. I know that he is hearing a crackling/gurgling noise when it is on. It sounds kind of like when i have my atty over filled. But i do not think that is involved with his current issue.

They still work, but he cant stand the burned flavor. What can cause this, and can we fix them?

Ironically, i am told cartos are easier to use. But, he is enjoying his atomizers much more.

Is there a way that he could have screwed up the carto's during this learning phase?

Would be a surprise if he didn't.

I screwed up ALL mine during the first week.

I'm not using the eGo or those cartz, but from what I've read
all the cartz have the same basic design with different fittings
for the various models. (With the exception of the newer V2
cartos still in design/testing.)

The burnt taste is from the heating/vaping coil getting too hot
and literally burning the wick or filler material or even the juice.

A crackling noise with a new carto is common with the pre-filled
ones I have used. But that noise dissipates at the carto gets
some wear. Not sure if it is created by a perfectly clean coil
or if it is from the manufacturer juice in the pre-filled cartos.

In either case, the crackling sound is not a problem. Nothing is
burning at that point.

To prevent burning, it is important to keep the wick and filler
material moist. Finding the right balance between dry and
saturated is a constant challenge with the pre-filled cartos
I've been using.

First of all, I think we have some confusion.

Is he using cartos (cartomizers) - or - carts (cartridges)?

If they are cartos, were they pre-filled or did he fill his own? Or worse yet, not fill them at all?

You stated cartos, so I will assume thats what your talking about.
They do make some sizzle and popping noise. If he is getting a burnt taste, he has run them dry.
Once you get the burnt taste, its almost impossible to get rid of. Best to chuck it and start fresh.

Back when I used filler type cartomizers, I would buy pre-filled, and add about 5 drops around the edge under the rubber mouth cap. Then you need to keep them wet, or they get burnt. For me, I added about 5 drops every hour or so.

It takes some time to get used to if they are too wet, or too dry. Better to error on wet, but if they are gurgling thats too wet.

I got mine from liquidXpress, and they have great flavors filled with their own juice for the same price as blanks.
Then I would by a bottle of the same flavor juice to keep them going as long as possible.

If he is interested, the Grape is fantastic. If he likes tobacco flav, the original is one of the best bacco flavs I have found.

The confusion is probably my fault.

It is clear to me that Willriker's friend is getting the burnt taste in cartomizers.

In my post I used the term cartz (with a z) when I should have said cartos. I've seen
cartomizers shortened to both forms. Perhaps cartz leads to too much confusion.

I'll try to stick with cartos from now on. :~)

First of all, I think we have some confusion.

thank you for the feedback on this. I saw it drop down on the page and got worried lol.

From what i know, he bought prefilled, used em, then refilled them. That note on them going dry, then getting a burned taste, then it being almost impossible to get rid of... i bet thats what happened. Because, he mentioned this happend to multiple catromizers i am willing to bet this was a user error. and that seems to fit the bill.
