Hi, i'm not entirely sure where to put this post so i figured since this would be a good forum to ask.

Bought my husband a Black eGo 650mAh Pass-Through Battery and the CE2 cartomizers 3.0 ohm, he cant go a day of vaping before the ce2 coil gets caked with black gunk so badly you cant even see the the coils anymore and makes the wick so hard trying to scrape away the gunk with a safety pin causes the wick to crack in half. I dont pre clean the carto's or pre burn them before juicing them up. Now that you have the background of whats going on my question is, is using the pass through creating to much power for the carto causing it to burn up faster? I really dont enjoy the thought of going through a ce2 a day but he hates dripping or using regular atomizers cause the vapor and flavor are not satisfying enough for him. Is there anything we can do to prevent the rapid deterioration of these ce2's?

The simple answer to your question is "no." The problem isn't with the voltage of the PT and the ohms of the carto. In fact, that combination only puts out around 5 watts of power, which is low. The CE2 cartos have a known problem with wicking, but you might want to try a lower ohm. That might help. There's also an extensive thread (and I do mean extensive) here. You might be able to find better tips here. My other suggestion would be to try one of the MAP tanks that use the CE2 guts, but have a 5ml tank. People seem to like them.

I make a homemade version of the tank using syringes and the guts of ce2's but my husband doesn't really want to use these tanks at work as he vapes 3 flavors at work and carrying and using 3 tanks is not really an option as he is not supposed to vape at work. (Military base, government contract, bosses have no idea what vaping is and just enforce no smoking policy and lump vaping in). Is it the heat in such a small enclosed tube, that is causing the coil to become encrusted and cause the wicks to be brittle after only a few hours of vaping? Haven't had this problem with the tanks I've made out of the ce2 guts.
