I'm fairly new to message boards and I'm wondering what "Friends" relationships are all about on ECF (not Facebook). I've received a Friend request and approved it, but I don't know what it is for, what it allows or how to make use of Friend status.

I couldn't find any info in the FAQ thread except how to make requests and approve requests - nothing about how to use the feature.

Any guidance you folks can offer would be greatly appreciated.

I agree with Beckah. No firstborns involved, no obligations. It's just a nice way to acknowledge a person..because you like their posts or because you just want to make a friendly gesture to a new member. Much like a handshake or greeting. I encourage the ladies from the Women's Room to 'friend" each other so that they see friendly "faces" anywhere they post on the board. This can be a very big daunting place for a newcomer!

There is no special status given to anyone you accept a friendship request from as far as I know. They will show up on your profile page, along with any groups you join.

My friends are just people I have enjoyed "chatting" with here at ECF.

EDIT: Welcome to ECF...it's a great forum!

Thanks beckah54, MaryKay and the look for your welcome and explanation! Glad I accepted the friend request that I got. You're right, MaryKay, it was a welcome and friendly gesture that felt good!
