I've been a smoker for a while and recently decided to make the transition to e-cigs after hearing so many great things about them...I mean smoking indoors w/out a complex fan system really sold me.

However i'm having some complications...first off the new blu cigs i got are extremely rough on my throat but i believe this is something that just takes time to adjust to and for the primer to wear off.

Second, is that i don't get that relaxing feeling, don't get me wrong that taste wonderful but i don't sink in my seat like i used to with a fresh pack of smokes.

I'm almost positive these are issues i simply need to adjust to but was just looking for some piece of mind and maybe hear from others who have made the switch.

Thank you very much.

Welcome! Some dryness of the throat is pretty common - most folks adjust to it, and drinking some extra water can help. If the throat hit is too much, you may consider switching to a liquid that has a higher percent of VG. Spend some time reading in the Nicotine and Other Alternatives sections - some percentage of people aren't able to quite get by on e-cigs alone, missing the MAOI's that are in cigarettes. They typically supplement their e-cig usage with snus or dissolvables. I was fortunate in that any cravings for those disappeared within the first couple of weeks.

Best of luck!

Welcome to the wonderful world of vaping Riveronlan!

First up is your choice of e-cig. The Blu cigs are actually the way I first heard about ecigs. I was interested in ordering one right away, but thankfully I did my research first. They really don't put out the kinda vapor that a analog user needs to quit smoking. Also I have read on here that the factory carts are pretty cruddy.

My wife and I went with whats pretty much the most popular ecig on these forums: the 510. The vapor production on these things are awesome, and there is a wealth of information here on the forums about them and various modifications.

I can tell you from my personal experience that the 510 gives me that AHHHHH feeling after a few vapes. We are vaping at a 24mg nicotine level, and for us it totally kills the craving for a regular cigarette.

Well thank you both very much...i think i will try the 510's. I sensed blu might not be the best before i even ordered, fortunately for them their marketing department does it's job well. I am starting to warm up to the e-cigs now that i ran out of analogs i'm starting to enjoy the flavor and really take in the convenience of it all.

Thanks

Some people have no problems transitioning to e-cigs, others have a harder time giving up analogs. I fall in the latter category, and still smoke but at a much reduced rate. To be honest though I started on e-cigs not as a way to quit but as a way to hopefully cut down and save some money (and my lungs). I took kind of a 'let's see how it works approach' with no expectations. Now I get disappointed with myself for not quitting but I have cut back about 75% on the analogs, so that's something. I really do love vaping but there are times when the e-cig just doesn't satisfy like an analog and the e-cig seems to barely stave off the cravings. I've tried all the way up to 36mg juice, it sure does give me a nic buzz but doesn't seem to reduce the cravings entirely. I also switched from the 901 to the 510 because so many people have said the 510 killed their cravings. Didn't do it for me. I like the 510 but at the risk of getting flamed I do think it it's a bit overrated.

I also got a little bit of sore throat when I started. Some if it may be the juice you are using, some juices can be a little harsh on the throat. Keep hydrated, drink lots of liquids and yes using a VG juice or cutting your juice with a little VG makes the vape less harsh. Plus you gotta love the big clouds of vapor!

Don't get me wrong, I do like the 510. I think the 901 gives a little more 'refined' flavor, the 510 more (and slightly warmer) vapor but IMO the difference between the 901 and 510 is not as great as it's made out to be. Both are very good, though I'd have to give the nod to the 510 for the vapor production. The 510 also seems more durable than the 901. I never got more than 3 weeks out of a 901 and most lasted around a week. I'm at well over a month on my first 510 atty and still going strong - and it has seen some serious abuse.

Maybe you should give the KR8 a try. The Vapor King (V4L) effectively kills my cravings for cigarettes and has from the beginning. I'm very glad that I did not start with any of the other models. At 36mg, you really shouldn't be having cravings.

On the other hand, you may be one of those rare people who needs to supplement with snus? I'd suggest adding the VK to your arsenal if you can afford it because it works consistently without a lot of hassle and produces fabulous throat hit and flavor.

Thanks, that's one I'd really like to try.

Well thanks again to those who've replied. I don't actually have the same cravings, for example i smoke my new e-cigs at work and no longer need to take smoke breaks in the cold weather, so that's a huge plus. I just miss the light-headedness in the morning and the sinking feeling analogs gave me. However i am adjusting quite nicely to my new e-cigs and am planning on trying the 510.
