From one Noob to another Noob (this is true)..."A long time ago", is yesterday (fri the 21st) at about 2:00 in the afternoon, not so long ago, "in a galaxy far far away", I'm only in Nor Cal. and you know they say we folks in Cali live in our own special world, I got my first order delivered.
Let's start with the ordering and delivery. AltSmoke, these are the guys I ordered from. Was a bit disappointed that I couldn't speak to anyone directly, but I did speak to them via "live chat". Not quite as good, but it helped. Ordered 2 x 650 twists, two mini Novas (the regular and minis have to be choosen via drop down menu, and I guess I missed that, but they are Vivi Novas, just not as large). 2 complete chargers, extra heads for the Nova's and 4 x 5ml of juice. Ordered on tuesday received on friday, that was quick and very cool. Came in bubble wrap, no special boxes etc, which was also fine with me. So far my experience with AltSmoke has been a good one, yes, I will be going back to them in the future. Don't forget your 10% discount using their discount code for first time buyers..."firstorder" is the code. No freebies were included, but the 10% off was great. I think they have a 10% code going right now on facebook ( I don't use facebook, maybe I'll have to start), so discounts are available. More about gear choices later.
Gear arrived, I opened everything up, immediately put the 2 twists on the chargers. This tested both chargers and charged both batteries. Opened up the little boxes the Novas came in, grabbed two different juices (Blueberry Frost and Killa Vanilla) and loaded up the two Novas. I wanted to test as much as I could, as soon as I could, so if anything needed replacing, I could arrange it asap. All was good. So far all works fine. One batt took about 1 hr to charge, the other about 1.5 hrs. No idea what level charge they had on them when I received them, not that it matters much.
When the first charger's light went green, I grabbed the twist, screwed on the Blueberry Frost, puffed about 4 or 5 times to clear and charge the coil, and took my first hit. Now, let me tell ya, the only other ecigs I have tried, 2 blu from Walgreens and a Noble Smokes rechargable my daughter got from the local smoke shop (it was pitiful). With the twist, I got a good mouth full of smoke (it was set at the lowest voltage)and sucked it in.....and immediately coughed it all up thinking my lungs were right behind the vape. This from a 1 to 1.5 PAD smoker. Quick lesson learned. I took it a bit easier the next hit, and eased up the voltage from there. It was a bit harsh (more in a sec about the harshness), but after playing with the settings on the twist, started low and went up each hit, did that 2 or 3 times, now set at 3.8. I vaped the rest of the day almost continuously, both the Frost and Vanilla, alternating between the 2 twists.
Got up this morning, Grabbed the first twist with the Frost on it, and noticed......the liquid is darker...a whole lot darker than it was yesterday, but the liquid in the bottle doesn't appear to have changed much, but the tank liquid is like...wow...from an almost clear to a dark amber. Primed the twist with a few puffs that I just blew out, took a long drag (I learned yesterday how much to draw) and was as surprised as hell. OH MY GOOD LORD....that was as smooth and as tasty as can be! Now I don't know if the juices "steeped" in the tank last night or what, but whatever it did, I need someone tell what happened and how to replicate it with the juice in the bottles....please.
All you new guys and gals, read this forum, ask questions. My first thread is here. Read thru it, pay close attention to what John has to say cause he's right about the equipment to purchase (he's right about alot of stuff he says there). Not sure what I would have purchased if he hadn't been as forceful about what gear is right for a beginner. Yeah, I know it's all subjective, what's good for me may not be good for you, but, this is good equipment, can be used with cartos, tanks, dripped, etc. Very versatile gear. Although I am now sure I will be adding to my arsenal of gear in the near future, I am also sure that the twists will remain and be used for sometime to come. It won't be like those damn Royal Smokes I tried. Those hit the round file rather quickly, the twists will stick around for quite awhile.
There are a few things that I missed. I was told I should get a lanyard. I'm a 57 yr old man and hanging a freakin' lanyard from around my neck with a twist attached is about one of the stupidest.........ok, so sometimes my brain goes into kid mode or stupid mode or whatever mode. Ask my wife, she'll tell ya all about it. I'm now looking for a GOOD lanyard (not what looks like crap on the sites I have found lanyards and pouches on so far). It only took me hitting my brakes on the truck once, having the twist disappear from the cup holder it was sitting in and rolling under the seat, to make me see the errors of my way. Another little item, we all want the gear we have to look good...right...need the little sleeve that goes between the Vivi and the batt itself, otherwise it looks sorta unfinished. Thank goodness I order a bunch of juice from 2 other sites. It ain't here yet, but should get here shortly, make sure you get alot more juice than you think you'll need. Get the 3ml to 5ml bottles, but gett a bunch of them, you're gonna need them.
