I've had my struggles in the past. My first stint vaping lasted 4-5 months without cigarettes. I transferred from D.C. area down here to SC by way of a 6 week stay in Oklahoma and it was more convenient to smoke rather than try and order supplies. I've tried several times since to switch back to vaping and up until now it wasn't working. I think I'm finally at that point where I'm disgusted with cigarettes and no longer have any desire to smoke. For me I think two biggest game changers are the availability of much better equipement that simplifies my vaping, and the local availability of emergency supplies through local B&Ms that just weren't around 2 years ago.

Smoked 1 PAD for 18 years. I quit via e-cigs, but ended up smoking again for 4 months after a very stressful time. Then I read the thread on here about how to inhale correctly... and haven't had a craving at all this time. Looks like I was doing it wrong the first time, because the first time I was craving analogs all the time.

I just posted this in another thread:

I kept half a pack on hand for almost a year before I got rid of them, if I felt I couldn't do with out one I could light one up. I didn't, but I could. I went zero nic after 18 months and quit completely after another six and sold my gear, Big mistake! The selling, not the quitting. a while later with a new stressful job I started smoking again and an having a lot harder time completely giving them up but I find that if I get really bad cravings buying a little new vape gear tends to calm them better in the long run than buying a pack of smokes. I say that in all seriousness and wish you the best of luck. For some of us it's easy, for some of us it's not and for some it's both.

I started out 3 and ended up at 2.

I don't worry about it because I'm smoking at most 5 a month per year and I know from experience if I do worry I WILL end up smoking more.

Hmmmm, which group....
After 6 months or so vaping in '09 I was combustible free.
After a little over a year of vaping I dabbled with a pipe. 6 months with a pipe I stopped vaping.
2.5 years with a pipe I started smoking cigs again.
Resumed vaping about 3 months ago, have had a few cigs in that time, fewer each week to where I'm at prolly 2 to 3 cigs a week just now.

Which group would define me then? I'd hafta go with Group W over on the bench there (-;

Group 3 from my first vape, with no inclination nor thoughts of smoking.

Over the past 31 months, I've introduced vaping to or assisted 49 v-verts . Unfortunately, a majority would now fall into Group 1. The great majority were under 30 y.o.

Currently, I know of only 3 in Group 2.

Also, my older v-verts have had the best success within Group 3.

Please note, I do not actively recruit. I let the curious make the first contact. After that, game on!

I'm always on da lookout for my next v-vert...

I'm in groups one and three. Started vaping about 2 years ago but didn't stick with it for over two weeks. It just never satisfied me. So back I went to a pack and a half a day (as did my husband and one of my daughters).

I picked up vaping again at the end of March 2013 and haven't had an analog since with absolutely, positively no desire to have one. My husband and daughter also started up with me and they too haven't smoked an analog since. Since that time my son-in-law has started to vape but still occasionally smokes a cigarette. Five of my daughter's co-workers are now vaping and are analog free.

It was about a month transition for me. After the first month I got what I needed out of vaping and didnt return to smoking. Occasionally (and by "occasionally" I mean once a month at the most), when with a smoker, I will bum one just because I'm curious to see if I still like it, or I've had a few drinks and am craving one.

I think the majority of people who switch from smoking to vaping see it as the next, logical, healthy evolutionary step for them. I see smoking as "so last century".

Group two..
There's just something about a cig that I can't get from vaping.

My main problem, I think, is that if the nic is too high, the juice tastes spicy/peppery to me. I've tried various vendors. I only notice a difference when the nic % is low. I NEED at least 24mg or I feel that nervous and jittery urge. But at that level it tastes yuck. Pepper flavored pineapple vape is rough....

*SIGH*
I still have about 10 cigs a day..

Group 3 now...

Was a smoker for 33 years. I tried quitting numerous times - everything from cold turkey,to patches, to gum etc. The longest I was quit was about 2 months, but ended up smoking again.

A friend of mine had started using a Blu and talked me into getting one. It wasn't bad, but didn't really curb the cravings enough. After a couple of days, I bought a pack of cigs. Fortunately, I found ECF and saw that there's a whole world of vaping out there. Got a protank 2 and have been cig-free for 24 days now. The best part is that I really don't have any cravings or desire to smoke a cig. My next investment will be a carto-tank. Unless something dramatic happens, I don't see myself ever going back to smoking.
