I have been vaping for 5 months. Overall it has been fine, I had no intentions on ever smoking again. until recently that is.
I spent 3 months of this time vaping a lighlty colored RY4. Using 3ohm cartos & a J-tank, on a LavaTube. Never had a problem with burnt cartos or loss of flavor, I could vape at any voltage without a problem.
I did however get tired of the same flavor so I went on a mission to find the ultimate RY4. What a mistake!

I found the RY4 round up list on the forum and ordered a batch from one of the best on the list. I will keep supplier names out of this cause I don't think it is a problem with them, I think it is me but I can't figure it out.
This was a darker liquid then I had been vaping in the past. When I first start vaping with the 3ohm cartos it tastes great, but only for about an hour or so. Then it starts to tastes burnt. I kept trying it and trying it for a few weeks changing cartos thinking maybe it was a bad batch, but it wasn't. I even ordered new cartos and new atty's but that didn't work cause I can't get an atty to work with any liquid, it keeps leaking and every 3 puffs or so it gives me a nasty harsh burnt taste.

So I thought it was a bad RY4, saved up more money and waited to order more RY4 from a different vendor.
This is all over a period of 2 months. The whole time vaping scraps of samples that I had just to get through each day. Getting frustrated with vaping the whole time of course.

I ordered more RY4 fom another vendor at the top of the list of quality vendors. I also ordered new cartos. This was also a Darker colored liquid. I am getting 1 day out of a carto, it starts off nice but by the end of the day it gets clogged up and starts to taste burnt.
Is this an issue of a darker liquid burning up the cartos? If it is how am I supposed to vape this RY4.
Atty's are hard to figure out.
All of the RY4 that I ordered is 70/30 to use in cartos
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Friend I have gone through phases like this where nothing seems to work right. Just hang in there. I've gone through a ton of juices not tasting right too or not being able to taste anything.

Clear liquids do make a difference. Also making sure the carto is fully saturated with a syringe or by spinning it works best-though it looks ridiculous. Top off often.

I can't help much with tanks. I never did get one cuz I have 100 cartos to still go through. I wish u the best

Darker/thicker can cause problems, particularly if your cartos are tightly packed, poorer wicking. A looser packed filler or filler-less carto can help.

On atties, something called a drip shield can help a lot. I use one from empire mods. It slides over the atty, including the connector, has orings top and bottom. Any leaks out the connector get caught within the shield. I use a short adapter/extender, to give the shield something to go over on the bottom.

Two puffs then add another drop is within the normal zone for dripping. With the shield you can add drops frequently, keep it wet, without making a mess.

Wow! All of this started with a different venders juice? And all of the juices are 70/30 mixes? Same tank carto's throughout? Same carto priming technique? Doesn't make sense that juice change alone caused all of this. First, your J-tank is not the problem. It is much more likely to be your carto's. What brand carto are you using in you J-tank? I had a very bad time with Smoketech DC pre-punched (three hole) carto's - almost a 40% DOA rate and the others were hit or miss in terms of performance. I switched to Boge SC cartos and slotted them myself and all of my carto problems disappeared. I'm sure I'll run into bad Boges sometime, but it hasn't happened yet.

Dripping takes some practice and I can't tell from your post if you did this a lot before. For me, also using a LT, I put 2-3 drops on that atty, wait a minute or so, then I get 3-4 good vapes. At the first hint of flavor change, I put another 2-3 drops on it. This has worked very well, but need to keep an eye on the drip well. I just need to get a drip shield to eliminate the mess from dripping.

I also vape an RY4. Mine is pretty clear also. Never tried any others. I'm still trying to figure out if I like the stuff. Mine may need to steep a little more.

It could very well be that the darker juice is clogging up the carto. At the end of the day are noticing any tightness in the draw? If you have a backup PV maybe a good idea to try the juice on a lower volt/ lower ohm setup. I find it strange that the cartos are leaking while at the same time clogging and leaking out the carto. May also be the PG portion of the juice is leaking out leaving the thick VG behind in the tank. I have a friend that I mix juice for with a tobacco absolute + RY4- 25% flavoring in a tank. Because it's so dark he has to shake the tank every every hr.
Good Luck.
