Frustrated! Need Help Please!

I've been using a nautilus Mimi for a few months. I recently thought I would try my hand at rebuilding, and my local shop recommended that I start out with a dripper because it was a bit more user-friendly than a rebuildable tank system. I bought a Tugboat and have tried smaller diameter dual coil setups with a combined resistance of 1 ohm, and I got thick clouds but not much flavor. In an attempt to intensify the flavor I did a build with larger diameter coils with less wraps. The flavor seems a tiny (and I mean almost unnoticeable) bit better. What am I doing wrong? I have a Hana V3 so sub-homing really isn't right for me at this point. Help me I am so disillusioned because at this point the Nautilus is tasting TONS RICHER than this Tugboat.

Flavor chasing on a dripper is part science, and part black magic. Since I havent built on a Tug I'll let others reccomend builds.

Pics of your current setup will help though. As well as build info like diameter of wire, diameter of mandrel, tightness of wraps, wicking material, and what wattage you're vaping at.

Some RDAs have a sweet spot for flavor or for cloud. I run my Patriot at 1.4ohm. I run my Tug Boat at 0.7 ohm. The Veritas is a flavor designed RDA and produces good flavor almost anywhere between 0.6 and 1.5ohm. Also when dripping the favor is going to be different than in a cartomizer. So you should expect a difference and experiment with the coils. IMHO the hotter coils usually don't taste as good. But that much is subjective. Try building a coil around the same resistance as your Nautilus and see if you get a more familiar flavor.

I prefer the magma for flavor. Big drip tips are for clouds. For flavor I like the smaller diameter tips. It seems to make a difference to me anyway. Generally micrcoils have better flavor. IMO. I agree with the sweet spot theory. The magma does really well between .9 and 1.5 and is an easy build. Im running one now at .9 single parallel coil and it has great flavor output

Also, are you using a V1 or V2 Tugboat? The V2 has the two-piece design with adjustable airflow, much better for tuning in flavors.

Again, what are your build specs?

I'd be willing to bet that it's a wicking issue. It's not hard to get a wick to work, but it takes practice to make them wick well.

If you want flavor (although it's an evil little build) I second the Veritas recommendation, by far my best atty for flavor, Magma 2nd best.
(I have : Stillare, Veritas, Mutation X, Little Boy, Plume Veil, Magma, Dark Horse)

I've used 28 gage kanthal on a 1/16" diam, 14 wraps AND this last build was 28 g on a 1/8" diam with around 7-8 wraps. Version 1 Tugboat. Cotton Bacon wick..

I like the more intense flavor I get with LESS AIR.
I still like my carto-tanks, but my rebuildables bang out much more PURE flavor.
But I use tiny little atomizers, with tiny little airholes, and as often as not, a single coil...

I don't know the tugboat airflow - if it's adjustable or what! If there's a way to do it though, you might try a single coil, with less air - if you can, a single hole, kind of aimed at the coil. You can get DENSER vapor (though not as big a cloud) which I prefer, that way.

Explain some common wicking issues. I know not to just cram as much cotton as possible through it, and that there is such a thing as too much wick but that's about it.

TS, I think the issue might be wicking. I have a plumeveil running dual twisted at 0.18ohms and I'm getting good flavor. But a rather hot vape. This is how I wicked it:

You can't see from this angle, but the airflow holes on the negative posts are unblocked

Is that one wick traveling through both coils or is it 2 peices that you just simply can't see where they both begin and end?
