Proper Wattage for a 0.4 Ohm Build

So guaging kanthal is actually the exact opposite of sizing electrical wire (like Romex in a house)? For example 10 gauge electrical wire is bigger than 12 gauge. Is it the same with kanthal? For example 28 gauge kanthal is smaller or larger than 24?

Yes higher gage = smaller wire. Smaller wire = higher resistance(ohm) best way to describe it. Water flows at lower pressure through a 2" pipe than a 1" pipe if the amount of water remains the same. Higher pressure means higher resistance to flow. Make sense?

So I need to go from 24 to 26 or 28 gauge to get a higher resistance coil with the same amount of wraps as a larger wire? That makes sense.
