first of $60 is a little steep. next time check out this place:
Starter Kits - e-Vape Kits he has better prices.
as far as tasting nasty from the start. the atties are primed during assembly with some fluid. make sure you blow them out onto a napkin before beginning to drip into them. not all atties recieve proper quality control resulting in a bad threading or drilling in some of them causeing a stiffer draw sometimes. i wouldnt be able to tell you right off the bat without looking at the device and the atty in person or in detailed pictures.
vapor production has to do with a few different things. first off lets look at what voltage your running at. with a regular e-cig size battery its probably running at around 3.3-3.4volts. not much to begin with. usually for me the higher the voltage the better. IMO
next look at the atomizer. what level of resistance is it? if it came with the kit its probably a standard atomizer which is usually 2.2-2.8ohms. that being said, at its best it would be running 3.4v to a 2.2ohm atomizer which is still only about 5.3watts. which is very low by my standard. the usual that most vapers prefer to be at is around 8-12watts. the higher the wattage the hotter the vape. many people using 3-3.7v devices prefer the 1.5ohm atomizers because at its best it would put them at around 9 watts which is satisfying to many.
lastly you must also take into consideration the e-liquid you are using. what is the PG/VG level? PG is alot thinner than VG and is supposed to give off a little more flavor. VG on the other hand has more vapor production and more throat hit. also depending on the amount of nicotine you vape at. I prefer 95-100%VG and its plenty flavorful for me.
All in all its a matter of finding the perfect combination of these things to ensure you get a satisfying vape. its not a hard road but alot of trial and error. with the proper guidance im sure you will find your way easily.
