Man I have tried over and over to get the taste rite on my 510 but its never consistent its get a nice smoke once then burnt taste next fill I admit I have not tried any mods yet , But direct dripping seems to work really well - Anyone else DD on your 510 ? If so How many drops do you do I am doing 3 but I was wondering if thers a certian number of drops that anyone feels equals 1 smoke (analogue)

This is helpful. Because right this minute I'm looking for my first 510 and wondered if I should go with carts or drip. I guess I'll go straight to drip, I hear nothing good about carts.
I drip almost always, but there are times when its more convenient to use a cart. Some may say they can drive and drip no problem...I know women that say the same about putting on eye makup. I'm not buying it. So when I'm going on a long drive (an hour is a long drive here), I take a cart.
To me the simplest cart mod, and very effective, is Highping's because you don't have to buy anything. Here's the link

I always DD on my 510 - on my 901 as well lol - I prefer it because its EASY. Yes you have to drip more often but you get a good flavor/TH and vapor every time.
I have used cartos for going out, and they are ok (and I dont hate carts either btw blue foam filelr is decent) but I love the intensity of taste I get with DD so I often take out a bottle and just DD on the go (can't DD while driving though lol)

Make sure you have a Manual battery!!
YAY love the DD, i have mastered the blind DD while driving method, just put the eye dropper right inside a modified cart(punched a screwdriver through it to make a drip tip) and squeeze lightly three times

I only drip now also. Some observations; 510 attys get HOT! Particularly if you're using LR attys or higher voltage mods. Make sure you get a longer type drip tip.
My first tip I purchased from Heaven's Gate; type A metal. It started chipping away the metallic coating pretty much right away and will get very warm when chain vaping from my pass through at 5v.
My second I purchased from a US vendor that I won't name because their service, etc. wasn't a problem, but it was a delrin frosted tip. I like being able to see the drops going in. However it's only about a quarter inch long and gets extremely hot. I paid about six bucks for it.
The ones I'm using now are long black nylons from Totally Wicked where I got a five pack for 8.99: TW long Nylon Drip tip for the 510 or DSE901 plus shipping. I could swear I even get more flavor using these. I also picked up some PG to justify the shipping costs.
There is a very popular brand T-Tip that costs about 20 bucks a pop. Many swear by them but I'm not ready to pay $20 for a drip tip. Wherever and whichever you decide to go with, just make sure it's the long type. Your lips will thank you for it IMO.

I do both. I use the carts and direct dip. To me I get a lot better flavor doing both. Gets messy sometimes if I am not careful. But hey I gotta keep the paper towel companies in business.
I do both, depends on what I have going on. When I'm home on the computer I drip, if I'm going out and to save a bit of weird looks I take carts with me, also not good to drip and drive.
I'm using the 510 and I agree: carts really suck, I tried the high ping mod but the darn thing floats around and ends up at the bottom thus no contact with the wick. No cart mod has worked for me.
Something I discovered quite by accident and I don't know if it's a good thing to do but it sure tastes good: I was using the high ping mod but decided to add another piece. That worked well for a while but then one part of the soaked cart material whatever its called fell down into the atty! The hit and vapor was awesome. I kept using it that way for a bit but got worried about my atty flooding or battery croaking. Going to try it on an old batt and atty, see if it works ok.
