Frustrated with filling...

Hello all. It seems I have amazing luck with the flavor of prefilled cartos for my KR8. Seeing the benefit of filling myself, I ordered several bottles of liquid.

Now, I wanted to wait until I had a few cartos that would need to be cleaned and dried to give them the original flavor of the new juice (or as close as possible.)

I boiled them, baked them for a bit, and followed the multitude of instructions found here and elsewhere about re-filling. Each carto I filled, I can hear the juice cooking, but no vapor or a whisper of vapor.

There is no blockage, and it's not over-filled - the cartos filler looks "glassy."

Any tips on what it is I am doing wrong?

Not familiar with that model of E-cig, but do you have a normal atty and cart combo to try? And does it work? To me it sounds like no very good contact with the battery I'd start by cleaning the heck out of those threads, I've had similar problems with my 510 before and a little everclear on a q-tip sorted the battery threads (both male and female) right out.

I thank you both for the quick responses!

I am not super familiar with e-cigs just yet, but as far as I know, I cannot use an atomizer and cart combo. If I am wrong, by all means correct me. I am here to learn!

I did clean the battery with missnomad's recommendation.

However, after some more fiddling (and shorting a battery!!!) I think I may it down now. I think it may have been that cartomizer.

On a side note - How does one tell if the carto is bad?

Furthermore - I tried the espresso juice from myvaporstore...my God what a TH. Not in a good way, it feels very sharp and too strong.

I refill them (top off whenever low) with a compatible flavor (and I consider a good non-creamy vanilla compatible with just about anything I don't have a better match for). I figure if I get a week out of one I am doing great. I will try cleaning and hope to keep some longer but I don't know about baking.

You can rescue your juice from a carto - search Youtube for Taryn Spin - the Reverse one shows getting liquid out.

I've boiled and refilled many kr8 cartos. Every now and then I get a dud that won't "sizzle" after refilling and produces poor vapor so it gets tossed.

Cartos are relatively cheap, so if you lose a couple during cleaning you're still way ahead of the game. I try to keep at least 2 packs (10 count) of fresh blanks on hand at all times, but rotate through used/cleaned cartos until they stop working. So far, I've gotten quite a bit of use out of each one without losing too many.

edit: I clean by boiling for ~15 minutes (changing the water at least once, and boiling longer if dealing with really pungent juices), rinse in cold water, blow out, and then let them sit over night. No baking here.

Yeah I would guess trapped moisture in the filler or slight overfilling. When I add juice to a carto sometimes it will hardly vape right after that. Some people say to let them site 1/2 hour after filling but I just make sure it's not leaking, clean up the threaded end if needed, blow into the threaded end hole, use a bit of tissue to sop up any mess near the top, and try it. If it is spitting juice or not making good vapor, I take it off, remove cap and blow through threaded end then put a tissue on threaded end and blow in the front then clean up any mess at the threaded hole and blow through that end again. Eventually whatever was flooding the atty or whatever was happening stops and it starts vaping fine.

BTW - don't run them dry then wash them. Refill when still damp - I can get 4-7 days out of a carto, sometimes more. Whenever the vapor seem light or a bit dry, I add some juice - usually 5-10 drops. Then after getting 4-7 days, if you want, you could save up the ones that still worked well but were gunked up and try to clean them. But heck I figure if I get 4-7 days out of something that is meant to be disposable, I am ahead.

Usually when I get the sizzling vaporless kind of thing you're talkin about I still have water in the filler. The reverse taryn (sp?) gets enough of the water out for me to just fill with juice and start vaping. Sometimes the cartos don't make much vapor or dont get hot at all for me after cleaning so I just turn the little screwhead looking thing on the battery end of the carto (kr808- vaporking) and usually that gets it back up and going again.

Thank you all for the comments and suggestions! I have been looking into dripping and/or the Tornado Tank from Totally Wicked.

Ont he subject of the tanks, how does the Tornado Tank rank with everyone?
The Tornado Tank (also known as the eGo-T, Inferno-T, and a few other names) is an excellent PV.

A LOT Less messy than carts or cartos, easier (imho) to use, you can see how much juice is left just by turning it upside down for a second, and it gives a steady vape from the first puff to the last of a tank.

It is not without it's down sides, though, some people have had issues with leaks (usually caused by pulling too hard or a worn tank seal), it doesn't like dark colored juices, or high-VG juices (I don't use more than 30%VG, but others have had success with 50%). If you want more info, you can check my blog (link is in sig) I have plenty of eGo-T info in there.

Overall, the eGo-T/Inferno-T/Tornado-T has gotten rave reviews, and is the "latest and greatest" that everyone is doing, or wants to try.

I've been vaping my tank going on two weeks, there was a little learning curve when it comes to draw, too hard and you flood it, too soft and it doesn't pull enough juice to the atty, and I got a dental syringe (no needle, curved plastic end) for filling the carts in the hole that it drips out of.
I absolutely LOVE THEM!
I bought a atty/cart combo to try them out with the battery I already had, and an hour later I ordered a new kit from iVape.net he has them at $59, most sell them for $70+, so I got one for me, and one for the wife. Go for it you will love it. So easy and no mess, and it just works every time!
