the 20+ drops are based on blank cartos i believe...or ones that are dang near empty.

My carts I usually start with 15-20 drops and then add about 10 more. I have not used random brands of carts though so it may just be my manufacturer but I get 30 drops used cart and 34 new. I think I did read once that most recommend no more then 15 drops though.

The condom method is something somebody made up as a messy shortcut. It is not the way the manufacturer intended them to be filled. But it is very helpful for people with rebrander models with cartos that won't open. I don't use the condom method. I like to see what I am doing. Re drops - every bottle has its own drop size. Every carto type has its own capacity.

How I fill a cartomizer (Vapor4Life for KR8 or Boge 510 for 510)

I use thin (20% or less VG) liquid or Vapor4Life WOW liquids, preferably clear liquids w/ no sediment

Filling a blank carto - I pop off the soft cap. I hold some tissue against the threaded end hole. I tilt the carto and slowly drip 18 drops onto the inner wall of the carto so it slides down into the stuffing while I rotate the carto. Then I drip however many more drops the stuffing wants to soak up. Then I do clean-up. If it is leaking, I clean that up. Then I tilt the open end down into the tissue and puff hard a few times into the threaded end to clear any juice out of the central air channel. If it looks too wet above the stuffing, I gently touch a bit of tissue to the stuffing (otherwise that liquid will be gurgling or spitting in my mouth). Then since this was a fresh fill of a blank, I now let it settle. I lay the carto on different sides for 15-20 minutes. Then it should be ready to vape. If you use thicker juices than me, then you may need to let it settle longer.

As I am vaping - if the vapor gets a bit light or a bit dry or tastes bit off or the carto is getting unusually warm, I will take the carto off the battery, open it, add 6-8 drops or whatever it seems to want (I will either hold a bit of tissue against the threaded end hole just in case, or skimp on how many drops I add to make sure I avoid drips if I have no tissue). I check to make sure the threaded end is dry, give it a couple of puffs into the threaded end to make sure the air channel is clear, and continue to vape.

Note - it is easy for me to "open" my main cartos for adding juice because I replace the white end cap with a plastic or delrin drip tip (I get them at LiteCigUSA.net). So I can easily pull that out with my fingers when I add juice and it keeps my lips cool if the carto is hot.

I've always had problems with cartos if I "DON'T" use the condom fill method... but then I've also never blown out the excess nor got any in my mouth as a result... I guess we all vape differently and what works for some may not work for others. I've often filled it to the point where there is juice coming out of the battery end while using this filling method but again, never had problem with leaking or juice in the mouth... I mainly use

Boge LR510's..

No problems with having to blow extra juice out of a carto using the condom method for me. I usually only do it when filling several fresh (new, empty) cartos. I fill from the mouthpiece end, very slowly and watch the hole in the battery end. When the juice barely appears, I stop and back the carto out of the condom about 1/8", sucking the juice back out of the hole on the battery end. This part seems like the key for me.

I wait about 10 secs, then insert a plug and condom on the battery end. I then finish pulling the carto out of the filler condom. A quick spin, then usually drip a few more drops, spin again. Replace the mouth piece, pull the condom and plug off the battery end and examine for extra juice, maybe give a gentle blow or run a fine gauge pipe cleaner about a 1/4" in to absolutely clear any excess.

The whole process takes a lot less than a minute. After a couple of vaping sessions I top off with 6-8 drops, watching the filler carefully so I don't flood.

I've found the best and easiest way to fill cartos is to use a syringe. Fill them from the bottom up and you can start vaping right away. Then just top the carto off every now and then by dripping directly into to top (the drip tip end). There is no mess, just rinse the syringe with hot tap water, dry it off and your done.

I don't understand , not even a reply concerning filling cartos with a syringe instead of the "condom method"? What am I missing here?

Wait a minute. Are you using the condom method by filling it on the mouth piece end? That would explain the excess juice issue. You're supposed to dunk the "battery" end into the cap, not the mouth piece. You dunk until you can see the top of the filler getting moist, then you pull out. Ok, I just made myself laugh, condom, dunk, and pull out shouldn't all be used in the same statement:?: Anyway, after that, you blow through the mouth piece to get the extra juice out of the battery hole, wipe it down, and then blow through the battery end. Recap, screw on the battery, and you're ready to go.

You can do it either way if you dip the mouth piece end then you stop when a little comes out the battery end, wipe that end and blow out the excess.

Some cartos you have to use the battery end to get them filled all the way though because of how far the filler is recessed....well that or you have a puddle of juice left you have to try to get back in the bottle until you make the next puddle or let sit.

I'm using the CE2s now so its a syringe fill for me... I don't mind though a nice clean vape and not as much fuss (for me) as dripping.

...Once you've filled a carto once, if you're just refilling you need less juice in there. I tend to just drip until the top looks like a slushie and give it a few to absorb it then blow out the threaded end and good to go.

This.

I'm filling cartomizers but I hold the cart at about a 45° angle, drip a couple drops, rotate the cart a little bit, drip a couple more and so on until the cart looks full. I sit them upright for ten minutes or so, top them off if necessary and blow out the excess.

Hey Delilah, I think I might eventually make the move to a mod. How does the Reo Grand work? Does it need a separate atomizer piece? For some reason I'm hesitant to have to buy atomizers as I've only ever used cartomizers. I see on the pictures that it has threads so wouldn't you have to still fill a cartomizer to put it on there or does it somehow vape the juice directly from the bottle?

the reo is my most laziest and simplistic mod ever.......everyone sooner or later realizes ecigs are one finicky device......sometimes im jus tired of dripping or filling carts

with the reo i just attatch the bottle.of juice i want.....squeeze the bottle, suck on the drip tip for half a second (to draw the juice into the atomizer) and vape. vape maybe 4 times hits and rinse and repeat.

i use.my reos when im walking the dogs or driving....its that easy.

what makes bottom feeders cool is that you get the same great taste from dripping..without actually dripping -.-

oh and the reo can also use cartomizers! same process and what makes it nice is that when you "squonk" or push the bottle, itll feed juice to the bottom of thr cartomizer which will help keep it wet.

and you can even drip on it if you want too (with an atomizer).
its the most simple and versatile pv out there realy..

I've used the syringe but found it unnecessary w/ smok tech dc using thin mostly PG liquid.

Direct drip holding at angle fill works for me.

If you've ever used clear dual coil cartos, you can see lots of dry spots in the carto. To me, the only way to prevent that and prevent burning the coils is with a syringe.
