I'm having trouble with my new Protank 2 leaking onto the battery. The first time I used it, I got a pretty good vape off it (although it leaked a bit too then), but since I get no vapor and nothing but leaks into the battery.

I've used three different heads with it, including one head from an Evod tank that doesn't leak in the Evod.

I've googled a lot and tried some things including:

1) Tightening / loosening various parts including the head
2) Tried on several devices, including an MVP 2 and an eGo Twist clone
3) Three heads, as mentioned. Two came with the PT2, one came with an evod tank that I had. All leak and no vapor
4) Tried flipping the silicon cap over the head assembly (as I saw on youtube)
5) Tried using two silicon caps, one normal, one flipped over the assembly

I haven't tried removing a wick, because that seems to be if you aren't getting enough liquid, and at least one head works fine with the evod tank that I have.

It is hard to tell where the leak is coming from. I know that liquid gets into the top of the battery, and will fill the transition ring (eventually) if I am using it.

At this point I've packed up the tank and put in the drawer. I'm too scared that it will ruin my batteries.

Any ideas appreciated!

Let me ask about o-rings...

do you mean the ones on the heads, or the ones on the glass? I tried replacing the head o-ring with one from the box (forgot I had tried that, based on a youtube video).

I did notice that there were silicon rings around the top and bottom of the glass tank when I first got it, but they seem to be "stuck" inside the top and bottom metal pieces now. If I completely disassemble this tank should it have rings around the top and bottom of the glass (because it doesn't)?

Both sides of where the glass sits have o-rings.

I'm not sure what you mean "at the base"? There is one near (but not *at*) the end of the coil, one a bit above that (just one side of the fattest part of the head), and a thick cap on the other side fattest part. (Sorry, my vaper lingo is still coming up to speed).

Just found a pic of a PT2 though.. is there supposed to be an o-ring directly opposite the 510 connection? Mine has never had that one that I know of. Here is the pic I am looking at:

I just took the head that leaked in my pt2 and put it in my evod, everything else the same, and the evod worked like a champ.

Protank 2's can be fussy. When they work they are awesome. When they get persnickety they're a pain. However since I popped some Aerobases on mine I haven't had any leaking, gurgling, etc. AND now I have air control. A $5 investment saved mine from the garbage.

I have problems with my PT2 flooding and i'm drinking not vaping the eliquid, I build my own coils so my question is do I have to have the flavor wick to stop the leaking? Also my mini PT2 floods in my 510 connection on mvp 2.0 what could be the causes? Thank You in advance.

Too little wicking material would cause it to flood. Try putting in a flavor wick and see if that does it.

I had lots of issues, and still do with the PT2, but the mini has been solid. You will find a little leakage when you take them on and off devices, however- it's inescapable. I just wipe with a cotton swab regularly. Honestly, any bottom-airflow tank is inevitably going to have flooding issues at some point- it especially doesn't help with Kanger's hit-or-miss quality control. I've gotten to the point where I'm only dripping or in my genny. Russian's on the way, so we'll see how that goes.

Since you are having flooding and leaking issues, I'd suggest that you replace the base of your PT2. The base should be available at a local vape shop for $3-$4. The base is the part with the 510 connector.
The other possibilities are wrong/clone/not properly tightened atomizer head.
The leak, unless there is juice running down the side of the tank, is at the base/atomizer/center tube.

On the base, where the head screws on, there should be a O-ring. That is to prevent leaking between the tank and the base. Sometimes when you remove the base that o-ring will stick to the inside of the tank. First check and make sure you have that o-ring. There are 3 o-rings on the Protank2. 2 are in the tank itself, top of glass and bottom of glass. The third o-ring is on the base.

The problem (IMHO) with the heads is that there is not enough wicking material in them from the factory. Several months ago I bought 2 Protank2's. They both had the same leaking/gurgling problem to the point I was ready to throw them out. Someone has already mentioned replacing the flavor wicks with cotton and I agree. Short of completely rebuilding (which I now do), adding more wicking material is the best thing you can do. If you're not vaping a high VG juice, I really don't thing you can put too much wick in there. Of course, you don't want so much that it will push the coil down causing it to short.

I now have 7 Protank2's and several evods. They are all I use. And with a micro coil/cotton rebuild, I love them. Of course YMMV. ;)
