Well I knew there would be a learning curve, but not sure if diy is for me.
I've mixed according to the calculater on DIY flavorshacks website, and I cant taste any of the flavors. It vap's and throathits and I cleaned my atomizers. Does anyone else have problems with DIY flavorings?

just read somewhere that vg diminishes the flavor. I been using 50/50 pg/vg.

try using 20% vg and 80% pg it gives you a nice vapor and keeps the flavor.

JMO but I feel those flavors are subtle, I tend to use those as an after note for darker heavy flavors from either a TA/EM solution, cappuccino, toffee... etc.
I'm partial to FlavourArt flavors. I usually do test batches on individual flavors, which I vape to taste right after making it-- then let it sit for a day then vape to taste, then let sit for a week-- taste & do a final critique/review of each flavor. KEEP NOTES! Once you get that down you can try more complex flavor creations.
I use:
5ml unflavored PG/VG blended e-liquid (I use 1mg higher than target mg-- I let the flavoring cut to roughly desired mg)

I use the 3ml dropper for dispensing flavors-- of which 33 drops= 1ml.
The initial test is always @ 1drop flavor/1ml unflavored nic. Some flavors require more, others less. TAKE NOTES. YMMV.

I am really liking "Perfumer's Apprentice" flavors so far. I recently got a good variety of flavors and am finding them all over the place as far as mix percentage. Some only require a little flavoring and others require what seems like a lot. Some of the lighter flavors come in an "Extra" selection (Blueberry, Coconut) as they are really subtle.

As "7thCabal" stated above, waiting for flavors to develop over time is something I am finding very important. It amazes me how much a mix can change over the course of a few days. Going from "eh" to "That tastes awesome!" isn't uncommon.

I'm using ice cube trays to test flavors potency and taste with 1 ml low nic juice. Once I have a good idea with what I'm dealing with I can try multi flavor mixes that sound good.

Don't forget ...... notes, notes, notes.

I get my flavors from here. Taste is very subjective, but if your taste buds are working right I don't see why you wouldn't taste them.

A day later, I am starting to taste my mixes a little more. Its hard for me because im inpatient, lol. Plus I started out with cinnacide from TA. That may have ruined it for me, lol.

Don't let anyone blame it on the VG. I use VG in DIY only and use the same recopies that everyone else uses FOR PA, FA, DV and Seedmans. Mine all have turned out perfect since my first batch. I only use the brands above (Perfumers Apprentice, FlavourArt, Decadent Vapour).

All I can say is as long as you are measuring and using the recommended brands and flavors that you will not be sorry!!! In fact you will be TOTALLY IMPRESSED!!!

Actually whether PG or VG it's good practice to let sit for a day or 2, IMO. SOME flavors will pop right after mixing-- some a little later, you'll find out once you start experimenting with flavor %concentrations-- by then you should have both feet wet on the DIY trip.

DIY is not a destination... it's a journey.

Also, as it has been said many times taste is subjective. I mix flavor at higher %'s than a lot of peeps on here, but I like the stronger (especially the fruity) flavors.
I use only VG and as an added sweetener I use a baking glycerin made by or rather sold by Wilton's. It helps to make some mixes a bit sweeter.
So don't think because you can't taste the flavoring there must be something wrong. add subtract, make it your own. I use the recipes here as a guide on how much to start with. have fun, mix it up, and share all the good ones with us!!!!

Some good tips over here. I usually mix in small batches, where drops count. I write everything down so it's easy to figure out larger batches, and I actually taste my liquids. Keep a glass of water handy to rinse and spit if you are using nicotine in your blend. I also use a 50/50 mix of PG/VG for thickness and vapor clouds along with about 30% flavor on average. VG does dampen your flavor but it is thick and creates magic vapor.
