FTC has absolutely nothing to do with Health and Safety and the information they're requesting won't be used for that.

The FTC does, however, try to promote healthy competition among companies. It's likely the data will be used to see if the fallout from the deeming regulations will result in just one or two companies after the dust settles. This could be a good thing as the data will show the industry decimation due to the FDAs ham fisted approach.

Yep, I posted this because as an industry we need to know everything that the gov is doing concerning ecigs. The Federal Registry is often ignored ( as they themselves have pointed out that the first time this was listed they only got something like 9 responses from the public) and in my mind ignoring it is a big mistake. This is how they can slip by so many sneaky, underhanded rules and regs that often have little response time before they are enacted. And when john q public finally finds out about it, little can be done at that point, as their argument is 'we listed it in the Fed Registry'.

@retired1 ,you would not believe how much I hope you are right about how they use
the information.

Agreed. This is one of the problems with government. Looking out for the best interest, health
and, welfare of the people does not mean absolute surveillance and control.

If you were to take it to the logical extreme...
Yes, it does.

If you want a Nanny State...
If you want to protect the precious children...
If you want everyone to be forced to wear helmets...
If you want freedom to be suppressed for the common good...
If you want a freaking village to raise your child...
If you want to be monitored to make sure you are in compliance...

The slippery slope is gone at that point.
The hole is deep and wide and swallows all things that happen by.

And so does a vote for Hillary.
Some will understand that, and too many won't.
:(

May God bless their children.

I no longer use nicotine because of extortion fees.
$50 per month for the "privilege" due to my employer's health plan.

But not by choice...
Unless you consider principle or financial concerns to be choice.

I'm doing it on principal at this point, and have been for 11 months now.
It's not even remotely financial for me, as I can certainly afford the extortion fees.

But I may start using nicotine again at any point.
And if I do, that will also be on principle.

At some point, principle may be all we have left to stand on.
Sometimes its hard to tell though.

The FTC's proposal (to require up to 15 of the largest vapor manufacturers to report detailed advertising and promotional expeditures each year) is nonsensical.

Since FDA's deeming rule bans the sale of all vapor products in the US on 8/8/2018, there won't be any vapor companies left to report any expenditures (except perhaps Altria, Reynolds, Imperial, BAT, PMI or JTI, but only if FDA approves the $10 million+ PMTAs for their cigalike e-cigs).
