funky taste from old coils

I have in igo w3 with dual nano coils built about 6 weeks ago cleaned every other day and rewicked now my juice has a playdoh taste to it, I thought it was vapors tonge at first but I changed to a different flavor of juice last night it tasted fine but this morning I get the playdoh flavor again could the age of the coil be the cause of this

You can find out quickly by switching out the coil. I've been using a coil in a Kayfun type RBA for 1+ month now with no apparent taste degradation. But as they say....YMMV

Could be possible an alcohol bath might do it some good too

Try 3 or 4 drops of hydrogen peroxide. It turns to water under heat so no worries there, and it'll leave your coil tasting fresh as a daisy. Works for me anyways.

My KF coil has been going for a long long time. It has turned that dull crackled finish light tan color. It probably has 150+ ml through it. I light it up screeching hot before I rewick it and douse it directly under a thin bead of running water. I do this a few times and then rewick and it tastes fine for another 3 tanks or so until it looks like a BBQ grill again. (This juice kills coils/wicks) But despite how the coil looks it still delivers with no taste issues whatsoever until the juice gunks up again.

I wonder if your cap, and body could also use a flush. I carefully run the deck of the KF under the water and blot it - blow it out every once and again as well so really old juice doesn't sit in it.


Every atomizer I leave sit with 'some' old juice in it - gets a staleness to it after a while if you were to just light it up and vape. I guess I should just pull the wicks and coat the coil in plain VG. But sometimes I forget.

That particular dripper had my adv in it swhich gets washed out almost daily cap drip tip deck and all the vodka bath got rid of the funk but now I have a vodka taste lol but vodka does taste better than a potato/tomato funk mixed in with berries n cream

Vapors tongue thought it was the coil because two different flavors had the same off taste

I think I may get an odd taste with my Russian when I do not break it down and get the junk out of the base bottom. It also will seep a little around the insulator in the base.
Using the H202 is a great idea.... going to give that a go...thanks!
