Hello, I getting a funny taste out of my set up. It's kind of a burning rubber taste. I was told by someone to send it back but was told by someone else that there was a way to fix it. What should/can I do? I'm using an ego-t with a mega twix carto. Attached a pic of set up.

Carto's are disposable. I guess you didn't know what you where getting... They are meant to be replaced when they go bad.

Isn't the whole thing a cartomizer? And the atomizer is the replaceable thing with the wicks? Sorry if it sounds stupid but i am fairly new to this. My carto is refillable so I don't think I'd just throw it away

Refillable. yes you can add liquid to it until such a time as it is no longer 'fresh, is very different from a rebuildable setup where you can clean it and replace the dirty coils etc.

Cartomizers can be cleaned a bit to extend how long you cn use it for - at least some of them are but otherwise once you have used it enough that gunk from the heating juice fouls the coil and atomizer its a toss and replace. There are many good video's on You Tube about caring, cleaning and - if you have a rebuildable one - how to rebuild cartomizers.

A burnt taste usually means one of 2 things. Your dry and need more fluid or the fluid has not yet been soaked in enough to reach the coil part of the atomizer (such as a very new one or your cartomizer has reached the point where it needs cleaning/rebuilding or tossing.

There are many different cartomizers and clearomizers, tanks etc on the market, so you need to know what your getting. For the most refillable does not mean it will last for ever or even more then a few days to a week or so depending on how often it is used.

It simply sounds like your cartomizer, namely the atomizer part of it has gotten dirty and reach end of life - its takes burnt and/or the taste is very off. I would suggest getting a new one and trying that and it should solve your problem. If you find out you have one that can be rebuilt, then you can follow the steps to do that if you are able to and have the right tools, and use the new one while your older one is broken down for rebuilding. If you don't have all the tools, get the parts or just are not that hardware handy and savvy you might find that its realty cheaper to not buy the rebuildable ones and just toss your cartomizer when it get gunked up.

Ok. I understand now. I didn't know the difference between a cartomizer and a clearomizer, now I do. I thought clear refered to the color, or lack of color. I have a vivi nova with a black metal sleeve, is this also considered a clearomizer?

Anyways, I had that taste straight from the box. Never used before. I know the taste Of burnt coils and whatnot, this is not the same taste. I've contacted the seller, and if they're decent people, hopefully, I get a whole new set up. Or at least replacement parts. I am very handy so buying rebuildable wouldn't be a problem.

I just looked up your mega twist it is a clearomizer not a cartomizer. You will want to replace the head which is the tiny atomizer part with the strings at the top. Once it tastes burnt its burnt and will never taste right again.

Not exactly. The wicks and the coils do not burn and can be cleaned several times--people dry burn them in order to get the gunk off.

Is this what you have? A double decker??? Interesting--I've never seen one of those.

Believe me I have burned wicks by not swirling and pulling to hard on them. SO yeah it is possible. It was a rather Choking experience.

Wicks are made of silica rope. They do not burn--they become clean white again. Unless you mean filler in cartomizers--that's cotton and polyfill and it burns. :D
