Hello all. It's Furzball. Smoked cigs since 2008. Tried E-Cigs (BLUs) to try and quit cigs back in 2013. I was cigarette free for 3 months before the darn BLUs broke. From the sound of things now, E-cigs have gotten better in 2 years since. But it seems like all the guys I talk to about their ecigs/vapes mod them. I'm not stupid but I don't want to think of modding something between school and work. So I come seeking knowledge. Is there a vape model that I can pick up and use for about 8 hours minimum (12 if possible. For days when I go to school and work.)? Or do I mod my own working vape?

Hey Furzball,

I think when your friends were talking about mods, they were just talking about the redesigned ecigs that no longer resemble the old tech stuff, not that they modified them themselves :) (could be wrong of course, but seems likely). In general, screw your tank to the battery is about as complicated as setup gets, unless you get in to rebuilding them or DIY, which is not required to start.

Lots of options out there, what's your budget?

I suggest looking at getting an eLeaf iStick 50W. All the bells and whistles you could hope for while being simple to use for a noob, and incredible battery life. Put a decent tank on it, such as an Aspire Nautilus or Kanger Aerotank, and you will have a great setup for less than $100. Your only worry would be finding a some decent juice, and there is plenty of that around as well. Best of luck and welcome to the forum!

I've been looking around. One guy the other day said it'd about $50 for a good one. And when I look online I see other stuff for $200. I'm willing to max out at $200 if it lasts at least that long (parts durability wise.)

Get and istick starter kit;

don't expect to spend $200 and be good for 5 years; just get the istick starter kit for now and you'll upgrade later.
With the istick, you have a battery with features that you plug in to charge like if it were a cellphone.
Later on you'll get a full mod where you can change the batteries.

In the meantime you spend some time looking at what you're happy with that goes on top of the istick, and figuring out what flavors you like.

G'day there. I got my new istick30 and kanger sub mini today. Never vaped before but hanging out to start. I know I'm gonna love it. Got no idea about rebuilding, is it basically ready to go once I assemble it. I know I have to wash first and put juice on the coil. Anything else? Thanks for any advise.

The rectangular coil is ready to go.
Start low with the power and don't move up the power too fast.
Takes some getting used to.
Sometimes for example you might start vaping at a certain wattage and everything seems fine, but then you find things start tasting burnt, the reason being that the wicking can't keep up with the power level; when that happens you need to reduce the power level.

Rememeber to prime the wick/coil before the first vape; (that means make sure it is wet/damp before activating the power to the coil).

Thanks matey. What do the other coils do? Or should I just concentrate on the one that's in there?

The rectangular coil head is the replaceable type of coil.
The round coil head is the RBA head with screws inside so you can connect your own coils.

The tank probably came with some extra wire coils which are for mounting in the rba coil head.

Thanks matey. One more silly question. What's the cotton for? Or is that just if I'm rebuilding?

It's for rewicking the rba head.

I think it's quite silly really; they should supply silica wick with tanks and rda's and if the user chooses to use cotton, that's the user's business.

Thanks for your help guys. Got it all working. Making some awesome clouds. The juice I have had no nicotine. Can't imagine what I'd be like if it did. Haha. What's the best strength to get when I do my next order?

With a Subtank? As low as you can get, to start with. Often 6mg, but get 3mg if you can find it. Or if you get a stronger juice in the same flavor as what you have now in 0mg, you can mix them together and tailor the nic level to your liking.
