Future taxation?

Greetings all.

I am new to vaping. I am on day 5, and I think it is wonderful. For some reason I still crave that morning analog badly, but after that I'm smoke free. Thats another story.

I am writting this post, because I am concerned about future taxation of e-liquid... Also, the fact that 4 states want to ban PV's is just asinine! ....... that. Just another example of Big Brother controlling our lives.

Everyone realizes that if these devices really take off, like every other smoker making the switch, the tobacco companies, and the gov't will be screaming about their losses. Maybe the gov't won't ....., but I bet certain states, if not the Fed will end up doing so; which to me is a double standard.

Oh, and... can I tell my health insurance company I dont smoke? That is, when I can afford to get health insurance.

What does everyone else think?

Oh, and I have no political bias. When I say the gov't, i'm not referring to the president, just the whole damn political machine.

Thats one of the biggest reasons they are trying to ban them is because of lost revenue from sales as well as taxes. As for the health insurance thing don't worry because pre-existing conditions are irrelivent now and chances are there won't be to many doctors taking third party payments anyway.

Personally I see it going one of two ways:

scenario 1: Govnmnt decides to ban e-cigs pending FDA approval, 10 years later they come back on the market with flags-a-flyin' but what am I supposed to smoke for the next 10 years?
scenario 2: Govnmnt decides they're taxable tobacco products, now my juice costs as much as a carton of cigarettes! but at least I'm still vaping as usual (poor again, but vaping)

as for your health insurance, I think it depends on if they test for it. If they test for it, they're probably testing for nicotine (which you still use) so that's no good. But if they test lung function or don't test at all, say you don't smoke (because, technically, you don't)

No need to worry about the e-liquid, it is the unit's that will cause a problem for most who don't have the hands or know how on making mods. You can pick up the basic's to e-liquids at a lot of local stores and you'd be surprised at how many places you can get liquid nicotine for pennies on the dollar right in the US. You get 4 or 5 guys together with the right list of phone #'s to call and you can make 100 gallons of 30mg to 50mg e-liquid all pharmaceutical grade for around $2000 right here in the good old USA. E-Liquid will just become moonshine for the ones with the know how and room to make it.

What I wonder about is can non-smokers either ban them or impose a tax on them by referendum.

I think it depends on if they test for it. If they test for it, they're probably testing for nicotine (which you still use) so that's no good. (because, technically, you don't)

You will also get nicotine from all of those great candies, gums, inhalers and skin irritant patches that the pharmaceutical companies produce now. So that won't be a test angle.

Polititions can just about do and dang thing they want. Our cigarette tax here was put into affect a couple yrs ago and automatically raises every yr for 10 yrs. and then they'll make a new bill for the next 10 yrs.

I have always said non-smoker on my insurance. I only have insurance for my wife and son who have medical needs. I myself have not been to the doctor other then for a physical more then 3 times in 15 years. In that 15 year if I said yes smoker, they would have collected an extra $9750 from me in fees on top of the normal price.
