Well that explains it! I thought you were seeing things! ;)

Seriously though, it does seem like we are seeing less of the dreaded "too busy" message that we have all come to dread... I have only gotten it once or twice. Used to get it all the time.

What we see instead seems to be the result of relaxation of the restriction.
ie... slowness. Extreme slowness, at times we may have previously seen the 'server busy' message.

I get to do a similar migration soon, myself. top 700-ish on Bigboards, 2.9 million posts, etc...
3 servers, total, for web, database, and ads.

Thankfully, they're running Invision Power Board, and not vbulletin.
I guess it's all in what you know, though. Some folks swear by vbulletin. I like SMF, myself :D

Just checking in over the cutover time... it seemed the first problem was with their DNS cutover.
(the domain appeared to not exist at all there, for a few hours)

Maybe they'll be able to pull the trigger sometime soon.

Depending on how the upgrade is being done.. a DNS change may not be required. I upgrade server hardware on a somewhat regular basis, but I don't change WAN IP's and therefore don't have to ripple any DNS changes through the system.

Absolutely correct. Because it appears there are a limited number of other sites on that IP I think they have a semi dedicated server so it shouldn't be an issue. But as I said I saw a different host name twice very briefly when they were working on it so it looks like they were trying for a different WAN side supplier not just a hardware upgrade.

From what I see they have already had 4 DNS changes in the past.
