I had two packages arrive from the east coast (despite my best intentions not to order anything this week). One box of G4's (http://www.shop.goodprophets.com/product.sc?productId=235&categoryId=34)from Goodprophets, one box from GotVapes, of their new Sapphire Bud (link; http://www.gotvapes.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=120&products_id=479) . Before I go any further, let me stress that this is not a review of either vendor - both are great. Fast, inexpensive shipping, etc.

Normally I'd review each separately, but if you're like me, looking for a solder-less, easy-fill clearo, I figured this might be more helpful. If you haven't moved to a mod or a pro-mod, maybe even more so, as I am using my trusty ego passthrough. Nothing special here.

First, the G4, as it arrived sooner. Install on the battery, pop off the tip, slant it just so, and you can fill it w/out any special tools, though a syringe would probably be better - I did manage to get juice in the center tube the 2nd or 3rd time. I loaded it with a mix of BWB 0nic peach and 8mg cherry tobacco (which I'd been using in a CE2 clearo with decent throat hit). No primer puffs were necessary to get a good mouthful of vapor. The problem is that it's so cool, thanks to the bottom-fed design - that you can barely feel it. But wow, can you ever taste it. The flavor is fantastic with these, truly.

But TH is almost nonexistent. I'm taking roughly two drags to every three in order to get that feeling that there's vapor going on. A change of liquid, to a slightly higher nic (16mg) and flavor profile (it's COV CY4) produces a weird sort of "no TH this hit.. spluttering and coughing the next hit" reaction. I can't figure that out. Really nice vapor production, btw.

But, onto the Bud, loaded with GotVapes Chocolate Smothered Strawberry, 15mg, pg/vg blend.

You know how in review videos someone is always hooked up to their Promoddedmaxavapormizer and they take a longgggggg drag, like you're holding your breath with them and thinking holy ___, how long can they inhale anyway? to get a huge cloud of vapor on exhale? yeah, forget about that. I just slapped it on my trusty eGo passthrough which'd been charged overnight and took a primer puff - and was like WTF! that's a lot of freaking vapor.

Now, the vapor is, of course, on the cool side, but SO much richer than the G4 I was using earlier. In comparison, the g4 is cool to the point of feeling nonexistent. I'd be taking two primer puffs for every inhale on the G4. And while the flavor is fan-freaking-tastic on the G4, that's a recipe for going through a lot of liquid.

The TH is on the light side. Make of that what you will, also, because of my liquid choice. But it's doable. Very doable. And the flavor is very, very good. That's one plus to the bottom fed design, imo - it really does let the flavors come through. I'm reserving judgement on the gv liquid for the moment, btw - it seems like a 'needs to grow on me' flavor, as I've been vaping a lot of tobacco flavored stuff lately.

So, which is better? Actually, G4 gets the vote on ease of filling. Don't get me wrong, the Bud is super-easy to fill. You just pull out a little stopper, and shimmy the filling condom-tip-thingy onto your liquid and you're good to go. Also, with the G4 I can use one of my own drip tips. I hate proprietary tips. The whistle tip on the Bud feels extremely awkward for me - it's too long and skinny or something. (Heh, that's what she said, alright.)

BUT, the bud is the winner out of the two. When I vape, I need to know I'm vaping, and the lighter feel the g4 produces is just.. no bueno in comparison.

BIG con for both of them - though my ego cones fit over the CE2's no problem, neither of my cones fit over either of these cartos. And there are times when I just don't want to look like I'm smoking a high tech crack pipe. The bud has a sticker over the carto to cover most of the liquid but the exposed threads on my eGo (especially fugly on my favorite ego - a stainless) make it look.. ghetto, as the kids say.
