Much of the weight gain seen when you quit analogs using cold turkey or other NRT methods if from the hand to mouth urges...therefore you eat more to pacify that.

In 2008, I quit smoking for a year and gained about 20 lbs within the first month or so. When I started smoking again, I dropped about half the gain. I have been completely analog free and using my PV for 7 weeks now and I'm still at my smoking weight. I wish I could shed some more, but atleast it's not packing back on. I'm not stuffing my face like I was when I quit before.

valtentine92, In 7 weeks it's 3 pounds! And it pretty happened in the 1st month, so it seems to be leveling off.

I call that a success and it doesn't bother me, this I can work with(s)). I worried about the same thing when I started since I quit cold turkey twice in the past and each time it was 7 pounds in one week and the 2nd time another 7 pounds in two weeks.

And with vaping, I'm not hungry like I was going cold turkey or overeating, so it may be from vaping for me anyway...the 3 pounds. I have noticed all desires for sweets are gone and maybe that's because I vape a lot of flavors.

I wondered about the same thing when I started, since weight gain was the reason I used to go back smoking each time...not this time. Good Luck!

I gained 40 pounds in six months. I've lost 20 of it, but it still bothers me because I was used to being a somewhat skinny guy. 20 years of smoking and I'd never eaten like that. I briefly went back to cigs to lose the weight. Horrible, but it works. The GF says use hoodia which is some herbal appetite killing miracle or something. I'm going to change to it once I'm back at my normal 195.

I switched from analog clove cigarettes to vaping in late October, and I have put on about 7 lbs. I didn't even think about the possibility of its being due to quitting smoking until I read this thread, though! I just sort of assumed that, since I was still getting the stimulant nicotine, it wouldn't be an issue. I think that, for me, the reason I've been gaining is that, since I switched to vapor, I spend a lot more time by myself, indoors. Regaining my sense of smell (during the first week!) makes it annoying for me to be around smokers, because it smells so awful and I'm now ultra-paranoid about the smell getting in my hair. Unfortunately, being a smoker for 15 years meant that a lot of my social relationships were based on finding other people to smoke with.

On previous quit attempts, I've noticed that I've gotten depressed when I quit, as if I had lost a friend. Although that's much less significant this time around, I have noticed it a bit, and I guess that might also be keeping me solitary and indoors.

I figure that I just need to keep hitting the gym, enjoying my newfound lung capacity (anyone else noticed this?), and getting tremendous jollies out of vaping in the locker room as soon as I'm done with my workouts. New habits take awhile to form, so I guess it's just a question of adjusting to the new lifestyle over time.
