I think that vaping helped me a lot. I gained a few pounds but much less than the amount I gained on previous attempts to quit. Think that vaping helps a lot as it cures the behavioral issues (hand to mouth) associated w/ quitting.

More importantly, pounds can be trimmed off - so can years of damage by smoking. Good Luck!

Agreed. My MD's take on this is that there is nothing inherent about smoking and quitting that causes weight gain. In other words it's not a "metabolic" issue as some people claim. But it is an oral thing. In my third quit smoking attempt I packed on 20 pounds, that I still haven't been able to get rid of. This time, quitting while vaping? Didn't gain or lose anything. I also didn't gain anything when trying to quit using nic-o-gum. In either case if a PV or a piece of that gum is in your mouth you aren't inclined to stuff anything else in there as well.

In any event my MD said he would rather have a non smoker with a 20 pound weight gain than a thin smoker with a heart attack waiting to happen. I get his point. (He also has no problems or issues with vaping. My MD is cool.)

Its been two years since I quit analogs, didn't gain even a pound. I know everyone is different, but in my case I did not put on the typical seven lbs that they say most quitters will gain. If I gain any weight here on out, it certainly won't be due to quitting as I got through two years so far without any.

I agree with your MD. I don't think it is anything 'metabolic'. I think it is that most people substitute food or sweets for the smoking, and also smoking is a mild appetite supressant for some people.

With no change in hunger or eating habits I have gone from ~180 lbs to ~192 lbs in my year of vaping. I'm about 6 feet tall.

I'm beginning to think my recent weight gain may be due to a nasal steroid spray. That started somewhat coincident with my taking up vaping...a couple of months afterwards, actually.

Magnificent : ) the posts about curbing cravings using flavoured juice of your favourite snacks (summarized loosely) is priceless, and I sincerely mean that in a good way. I'm going to have to shelve that thought got future use.
The gaining weight thing I am convinced is an oral fixation. It's been my theory since I tend to drink or eat more when I have tried stopping/cut back on smoking or drinking.

...still I'll be on the watch JUST in case I'm wrong.. which has happened on more than one occasion.
