I've been searching for days and days for an inexpensive fully mechanical mod. So far the Galileo with a magnetic button comes closest to supplying all my needs: accommodates different size batts/kick, tappered recessed head for 510/ego clearos, easy to push button that doesn't appear to misfire easily, etc. What it lacks that I would like to have though is an airflow adjustment ring and I'm not sure if it can be set down standing up without locking the button. I'm also not real crazy about its looks but I've looked at so many I like the appearance of that have various problems requiring tinkering or a trip to Home Depot like the Chi You clone does.

Does anyone have one? What do you think? .. especially about the air flow. Reason: When I was a noob I bought cones for my egos and cartos and couldn't use them due to air flow. I'm really picky about that. Is their a better or nicer looking one for under or around $60.00

Edit: Ugh, I should have put smok in that header... too late, can't change it now but its the one that runs about $45.00. (http://www.litecigusa.net/Smoktech_Galileo_p/smok-galileo.htm)

Thanks Glen.

Does anyone know if safety fuses work with magnetic buttons? Sorry if that sounds dumb but I'm a mech mod noob. Or are they even needed when using IMR batts?

Honestly I really don't know because I never tried. I vape 1.5Ω attys almost exclusively and have no sub ohm setups so never saw the need. Maybe the customer service department at the vendors site could help you out with that.

I don't see why they wouldn't... it's the same circuit as a non-magnetic mod, just completed in a different way.

I guess I'll have to get that mod somewhere else as I can't get the vendor to answer my question.

I just didn't know if the magnet in the button would be strong enough because the fuse itself is magnetically held on to the bottom of the battery by a magnet. Truthfully, I don't know how much these fuses are hyped. I'm finding them everywhere between $2.00 and $15.00. I'm certainly no sub-ohmer. I only plan on vaping 3.7 volts with EVODs or other clearos at 1.8 or 2.2 ohms. Hopefully, I won't even need to use the mechanical. I just want it for backup. And I plan on getting a meter to check whatever clearo I might put on the thing before using it. Mechanicals still scare me but its the best thing to have if I ever can't get my usual protected batteries.

You can absolutely use EVODs and clearos on a mech. When I first started vaping, I used a mech and Vivi Novas (and others similar). Lower ohm rebuildables take full advantage of a mech's capabilities, but don't think that you have to use them. Truth be told, some people like myself just like the reliability and ease of use. :)

By the way, to answer your question, I believe safety fuses are a bit hyped. I think the amp limit of most fuses is about 7amps, which is well below any safety limit of AW IMR 18490 and 18650's. If you're using an 18350, then perhaps it couldn't hurt... but really, use any IMR 18490/500 or 18650, you'll trip the fuse well before ever coming close to danger.

I got a great deal on the Galileo from Vapor Beast a few months back. I'm extremely happy with it. Fires like a champ, looks great, telescopes, and is well built. The magnetic button is really cool. Also, it has respectable battery life--something I wasn't expecting from a mech. So far it works with all my Ego and 510 tanks and attys.
