Hi everyone. I am brand new to the forum although I have been reading threads for a couple of weeks now. I am a 54 year old grandmother with two wonderful little grandsons. About 3 weeks ago I got my first ecigarette more out of curiosity than anything else. I have tried for years to find a way to quit smoking but nothing really works. So I said, what the heck try one more time. (by the way I was, notice I said was a 40 year pack and half a day smoker) I got a really cheap one and tried it. I loved it. From the first day on I have not smoked a real tobacco cigarette. Its been three weeks now. After 2 weeks I told my son,(army) and he said, well, wow, mom if it works pick out a good one and I will buy it for you. I just recieved my brand new 901 yesterday as a Mothers Day Gift from my son. Best gift I ever got. My daughter and son-in-law, tooks us out to eat on Mothers day and I used my ecig in the resturant. I had a dozen people asking about it. Did it work? How much did it cost? Where did I get it. Awsome! I said best way to find out is Google ecigarette and research. First time one has been seen in my area and boy were people impressed. 3 weeks and counting and completely smoke free. Wish I had this years ago. Would give pros and cons but can't find any cons yet compared to real smoke. Just orders some eliquid, can't wait to get it. If any one has any advice or comments I am open to it. Thanks all.

Congrats Gardenia! and welcome to the forum. I, too, am a grandmother and smoked for 36 years, 2-3 packs a day. I quit on St Patty's day like my sig says and haven't looked back. There are a lot of pros to this. Only con is it is more labor intensive than analogs but it is worth it. My advice is to get enough spare parts to keep it going so you're not caught short and considering going back to analogs.

Congratulations. Most vapers decide to get a second PV in case something happens to the first. I would suggest you try a manual switch PV with the larger batteries and then you will have both types. I have the Screwdriver and just love the consistent throat hit and being able to go 8 hours on one battery and the batteries only cost a couple of dollars. I think the US made Prodigy will be just as good as the Screwdriver. Here are the links if you decide to try another one.

Welcome Gardenia, and congratulations. I haven't totally quit with the nasty cigs yet, but as soon as I get an ecig that keeps working for a while I don't think quitting completely will be a problem. Vaping is more labor intensive that picking up a cig and lighting it, but I'm really kind of enjoying fiddling with all my "stuff" :)

I have a couple of questions. I am an avid cook and I bake and decorate a lot of cakes so I usually a supply of vegetable glycerin and flavorings around the kitchen. Can I refill cartradiges with just vg and flavor if I don't want the nicotine all the time? By the way example of my flavorings I use (Adams extract: bottle says,"blend of propylene glycol, water and aartificial flavors) If so what do I use to thin it with if its a little to thick with the glycerin? And what would the best mix be? Will it gunk up my atomizer? Need advice. Thanks. Also thinking about purchasing the PCC Titan that comes with the on the go charger. If it works, would be handy for me because I live in a hurricane prone area and would be great for recharging battery at least 3 times with no power. Any comments on this product?

Gardenia, last hurricane I had a time keeping my stuff charged. Get a Kensington battery pack and a USB pass through. Also, a car charger. I started June about the last week and barely had enough stuff to evacuate with and keep it together and then 2 weeks with out electric at home so, we need extra stuff. Still need to get a USB car charger and then I will be ready.

I am a grandmother and a bit older than you are, smoked 2 packs a day.

I live in Texas, please go into your profile and post where you are. If your in Texas, you will be invited to join the Texas bunch.

tazcat, I am not that far from you. I live in LaPlace Louisiana. Been here 13 years. But I grew up in Texas and both my childeren were born in Texas just south of Houston. A little town called Angleton. by the way, my dogs name is Taz, go figure, hee hee. Send me to the web site for the kinsington battery pack please. Would like to check it out. Thanks

Welcome and congrats!

I'm going on about 3 months now and the idea of having to go back is revolting to me. I still have the remnants of a carton I bought just before my first :) PV arrived and occasionally I will do one and it is an excellent reminder that I don't want to do that. Besides giving an out of control government more money to squander, they have lost their attraction (1.5-2+ packs a day for 40+ years). Probably just my Scottish heritage that makes me not want to waste them :). Once those are either gone or gotten terminally stale that will be the end of it. Might be a while though, I am doing maybe 2-3 a week MAX. In truth I suspect I'll get over it and just toss them in the end.

It has turned into a hobby as well. My electronics workbench has turned into my vaping lab :). Just recently got into DIY flavors and I think it is WELL worth the effort, very few of the available commercial flavors inspired me. My Grandmother was a real DIYer and I think she might be proud of me :) :) :)!

Even with all the PVs and juice and accessories, I am *STILL* ahead of the game compared to tobacco :). AND I *like* PVing a lot more but it did take me a while to get my head around vaping anything but tobacco flavor :) LOL!

Hang in, it is good for you (IMNSHO)!

My advice to you would be to quickly buy some back-up atomizers and batteries, just in case.

Hi Gardenia,

You asked about mixing Vegetable Glycerin with flavourings. Well I dont know the ones you are using, as I am in the UK and we only have access to certain brands.
However, I am currently using LorAnn flavourings which are water soluable. So first of all, check the contents on those you are using against the LorAnn ones.
Normally when I mix, I add a little Distilled Water to the Glycerin in order to thin it down, then drops of flavouring to taste. This will stop any problems of adhering to the atomiser and burning.

Do plenty of research on which flavourings are suitable and which are not. Butter for example is a definate no no.

Now, to your 2nd Question.

The Titan, Dura C, Yeti and Joye 510 are all the same e-cig, with only slight differences between them.

The Titan and Dura C have Personal Charging Cases, (PCC) not sure about the other two.

I have the Titan from Totally Wicked, which you can buy complete with its own PCC. This allows you to have a battery (on charge) in the PCC, along with an atomiser and 2 carts.

You charge up the PCC every 3 - 4 days. Very handy if you are out and about a lot.

Hope that helps.

Hi Gardenia! Welcome.

On the Veg. Gly - just make sure the bottle says "for sweetening" or something about using it to mix herbs, foods... etc. These for some reason seem have a better taste than some of the others (I think someone posted the one at Walmart in the pharmacy department tasted bad or soapy?).

VG and flavoring is a great way to go if you can leave nicotine! Just don't use oil based and watch the coloring (I think they said yellow #7 was particularly bad) in your extracts.

Kensington power pack: I got mine at Best Buy on sale for $39 recently. If you have one near your home, you can call them, they'll check it to see if it's in stock, and hold it at customer service for you (I R lazy... LOL). You can usually get store numbers on their webpage. If it isn't on sale now, it probably will be again in a few weeks. I bought 2 and they're wonderful with the passthrough (on my Penstyle - I hardly ever charge batteries now!).
