Hi, just joined up to the forums, I have, through a bit of drama given up smoking--a lifelong habit, I ended up smoking 50 a day and pretty inactive--UNTIL-I got what I thought was a bad cold from the wife--spent three days not eating and every day shorter and shorter of breath until I thought -that's it, I panicked when I started to hyper-ventilate--I gotta go to hospital, anyway's get there and they put me right in on Oxygen mask-short story is, I spent a week on intravenous antibiotics, nebulisers, powdered inhaler, and some prednisolone tablets--forgotten the rest, that was 3 months ago, even now I still remain short of breath-but don't exercise much these day's-computers!, so I just thought I would introduce myself with a scenario that must fit heaps of others here, I have ordered a T-Rex ecig and some nicotine stuff from China, I might be crazy-somethings telling me to totally quit with all this right now, but there you go-still a glutton for punishment.
Regards to all.

Hi V, yep, the admitting doc said-your lungs are basically 1/3 ash and tar trashed--keep smoking you die--no if's or but's, it's up to you buddy--I'll never forget those words

Something else too--and this is a killer--

I have two little granddaughters whom I have hardly met because of my smoking habit apparently, my wife wouldn't let either of them in my office or near me because of the rank tobacco smell on me--I never knew how bad it was until I haden't smoked for a few weeks and one day went to the shops--someone was leaning on the back of my car smoking--I nearly puked, I still can't believe it.

Nothing more sensitive than a reformed smokers nose. I too cannot stand the smell as I walk out the shopping centre etc. For the first time in 30 years of marriage my wife said, "What's that your 'smoking' - it smells nice". That would be an apple and arctic ice mix I made. I don't like any tobacco flavourings in my vapes at all now. I have about 20 different menthols sitting in the fridge waiting for a new home.

Not all bad news from your admitting doctor though. It means that you have at least 2/3 functioning lungs, which is not bad for a 50 a day smoker.

Quitting would be best, your off to a good start with a t-rex (I own one as well :) ) and some juice. I have read many accounts about people being able to breath better after being off analogs but ymmv. Welcome to ECF, I wish you all the best saxien there is no better feeling than being from those death sticks :) I count my blessings all everyday for that being the case now.

Hi Arjay, yep it's real strange, it's like a new lifestyle you weren't ever even aware of, I have smoked nearly all of my life, so has my wife--who only ever smoked Kool menthols--nothing else, and who has also given up in support, we both smoked for over 40 years together--don't even mention the irry--not too bad tho considering, now other things are surfacing like weird taste or none at all-- and dare I sat it-flatulence, the entire body seems to be changing--I just can't keep out of the fridge either--I have put on 10kg's in a couple of months too

Hi benjayman2,
I must say it's great to meet and speak with all you regular guys on this site, I have spent hours and hours reading all the pages and posts on here and to see you all responding like this to a new member like me is heartwarming, I really mean that too, so hopefully me and the wife should be able to kick these fags for good, one thing that may be helping me to quit is that doc's unequivical statement-if only these things had been invented years ago I might have been a lot healthier, mind you, I have always been pretty fit--I have been a ceiling fixer most of my life, it's only lately I have sort of been retired and now spend most days day trading

Hi Saxien and Welcome aboard!
This stuff can really help you! I smoked 50-60 a day for 30 years and walked away from them on the 3rd day vaping! The least painfull transition ive ever tried compared to patches or gums or cold turkey! My wife smoked the same amount of time as me and quit the same day as I! My mom smoked 50 years and did it also! My best friend 20 years and did it!
At some point in it you have to mentally make the decision that i'm not gonna smoke anymore but didn't really have the major withdrawal or the irritability that the other methods had! Was just breaking the ritual or habit!
In about 6 - 7 weeks I went from not being able to walk across a grocery store in 1 shot without being out of breath to being able to do it easily! Also the sense of smell and taste coming back is amazing!
You can do it and you have came to the right place for help and support! So many here have gone through the same as you and will gladly help in anyway they can!
Good Luck in your new lifestyle!

You're off to a great start! Just keep in mind that there is a little bit of a learning curve with any new product. The fine folks here at ECF will help get you through it though. I think I've found that if there anything I have a question about, odds are someone here has already been through the same thing and they're very eager to help point us noobs in the right direction. :)

Thanks for all the great replie's, I forgot to mention I was on a course of patches since leaving hospital, 4 weeks on 21mg, 4 on 14mg and 4 weeks on 7mg-I haven't done the 7mg yet and probably won't as I don't feel too bad now, I have to laugh when I see all you US guy's posting your savings on the cig's, going off about your $8.00 a pack smokes, down here in OZ the basic cheapies cost around AUD$ 22 for 50, now let me see-our daily smoking habit was costing us around AUD$ 38.00--the gov't down here hit us with a 25% excise increase too not long ago, so say it would now be around $ 45 per day X 75 days = around $3375,-now that's starting to add up big time, less about $200 in patches and my new toys-now this I like adding up.

Hey Arjay,

you mentioned "That would be an apple and arctic ice mix I made. I don't like any tobacco flavourings in my vapes at all now. I have about 20 different menthols sitting in the fridge waiting for a new home.", that Apple and Artic Ice mix sounds interesting, menthols may be the way for me and the wife as that's all she smoked before, recipes??

Hi Sax!
Welcome to the best vaping forum on the web! I smoked for 33 years, and in the end was smoking 40 a day. I went from 40 a day to 6 a day the day my first PV came in. I wan's able to give up completely till my 510 came in a week later. It's only been 9 days for me, but I already feel better. No more wheezing and no more "smoker's cough".
Once you've been vaping a while, you won't even want an analog cuz they taste so aweful.
Once again Welcome and good luck!!

Hey Arjay,

"........", that Apple and Artic Ice mix sounds interesting, menthols may be the way for me and the wife as that's all she smoked before, recipes??//

Recipes. You must have me confused with somebody who is the slightest bit organised. I have made 30 to 40 different mixes and only remembered to write 2 down in a book I bought especially for Vape Juice Recipes

So far I've bought juice from Health Cabin (China), eLiquids (China), Vapor4Life (US), Juicy Vapor (US), BlueMist (US), Vapor Bomb (US), Madvapes (US), Wordupcig (US), E-Cigz (Oz), EcigsWarehouse (Oz), and I am waiting on some from Gourmet Vapor (with a few of my own creations included).

Yes. I have a problem

But back to your question, I will search through my stock and see what I come up with, and let you know.

If you or any other Aussies would like some of my excess samples to try just let me know (PM me), and I'll send it to you. Better than wasting it.
