My wife loves her XL, but to tell the truth, It's kinda ugly when you use a darker colored liquid.

I was going thru my basket of old pens, looking for one I can use for another project, when I came upon a couple of those giveaway pens like companies provide for free. They had on them polished metal perforated barrel covers, easily removable. It turned out that they make right handsome shrouds for the CE2. They are the same diameter as an 801 carto, so they don't fit them well. However, I now know what I am looking for and will, at the next conference, grab every free pen I can get my hands on. Who knows what treasure you may wind up with :confused:

Alan, looks sharp and the holes are great. Have you got a pic of the original pen maybe or exact measurements? I've been looking endlessly for a metal pen part to fit as a sleeve over steel carto tubes quite snugly for this in the top of the pic:

The mouthpiece presses on but can be wobbly and fall of especially in the pocket. For the life of me I can't find a good tube for the fit and have been using carto condoms which don't look so good. Any help is appreciated :)

Here is another similar pen, only in candy apple red. Note the holes in the barrel, they look cool, eh?

So far as the dimensions, I don't have a micrometer, but with a ruler the tube appears to be slightly larger than 10mm (possibly 10.2-10.3???) inside diameter. It, I believe, the very same size as a Bauman 801 carto, as it won't slide over the 801 (my favorite carto). It is slightly too large for an 801 drip tip (as you know, the 801 tapers slightly at the mouthpiece end). I am thinking that, with a slightly thicker replacement o-ring, the 801 tip should work fine.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the pic, it does help. A 3ml syringe fits over the carto connector in place of the tube, but not over the steel tube. I don't think I've seen that style of pen before, we get something similar with a thicker plastic barrel or just an all metal pen.

I've zero experience with 801 stuff, I sort of thought it would be too big. I have a 3/8 brass tube, but it would replace the steel, but I'm looking to slip it over.
