May be they should make the 2 air flow posts sticking to the chamber instead of sticking to the deck. That should make plugging a coil lot easier.:glug:
Works fine now, why change it? Installing a coil isn't near the pita I thought it would be, except for the screws.

I am in love with the B2K it's amazing little flavor RDA. Exceptional machining, a smooth airflow that doesn't whistle and a postless deck that doesn't require 10mm legs to reach the holes. Having small and large bore drip tips included are a plus, as well as the anti spit back insert for the large bore if you choose to use it.

The only minor issue I have with it is that the juice well is small, and it's very easy to over squonk... ;)

The two best single coil RDA's for me right now are the B2K and the Entheon, both superb and running perfectly in TC on my dna squonkers. I haven't finished trying out builds on the B2K yet, going to put it on the Drone and check out a few bigger coils. :D

The Wasp was a good RDA for the price, but I just couldn't get the thing to stop whistling. I don't have the desire or patience these days to tinker with RDAs that need tweaking and tuning to not whistle.

Many thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I don’t have an issue with clapton or fused clapton coils; Ni80.
I’ve vaped at 120w on rda and I get no sizzle.
Either there is lack of airflow at high wattage, thus coil doesn’t cool down as you vape or the draw is too slow thus coil stays hot.
Ni80 heats up and cools down quite fast compared to Kanthal. And Kanthal is mainly made from Iron and Iron holds heat for much longer period of time.
Could also be do to too little cotton in the coil it self, another reason for a dry hit.

Too much cotton or too little cotton and you will get a dry heat.
Tails are too short or too thick and you will get a dry hit.

I used to use Rayon with great success, but it’s not as versatile imho as cotton and requires too much work at times to wick.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. Every tank requires a specific wicking method. Even if there is 10% difference, it can and will make a big difference.

I never even considered how airflow could be contributing to my issues. Makes sense. Thank you!

Oh great you have to love it right? :D Stop loving stuff ok :D just kidding lol! You’re making it real hard to resist, but I will try really hard to resist, at least until my Entheon arrives :D
Great. I already suffered from B2k envy and now I can add Entheon envy to the list.

I'm finding in this industry, "new" is not always better.
The last 6 months of new box mods don't interest me.
I don't want flashing lights, speedometer watt dials, with embossed skulls.
If I find something I like, I'll pick up multiples. In a year they won't be available.
Glad to see that I'm not alone when it comes to having no desire to vape on a disco ball

Just opened up my third Zeus tank today, which officially marks the Zeus as my official RTA of choice, running my three favorite flavors. :)

I know there has been some discussion on "why more than one" ... etc. Here is my reasoning:

About once a year (for the last 4 years vaping): I "upgrade" my RTA to whatever the latest and greatest is, typically because after a year of use, my tanks start to get a little tired ... I run out of spare o-rings/parts, they get some dings/scratches, things start to wear a bit. This and most importantly: shinyitis.

Having 3 means I'm equipped with spare parts/etc. for a year of heavy use between them... I'm 98% RTA and 2% dripper (for trying new flavors).

The process typically occurs after the summer months when outdoor activities start slowing down for me, so October/November timeframe. I will purchase 3-4 different (affordable/Chinese-made) RTAs and put them through their paces, comparing/looking for improvements over whatever my current go-to was for the last year, trying different builds/wicking methods to find their sweet spots.

Here is my progression:
  • Fall 2013: Kayfun Lite (Clones)
  • Fall 2014: Lemo (original) ... more airflow, more capacity, similar/easy to build deck
  • Fall 2015: Lemo II ... a little more airflow, similar/easy to build deck
  • Fall 2016: OBS Engine ... a lot more airflow but can be dialed down easily, easy velocity style deck, huge capacity, no bottom airflow therefore no possibility of leaking or condensation
  • Fall 2017: Zeus ... same airflow, incredibly easy build + back to single coil, decent capacity, sticking to no bottom airflow
All that being said, aside from airflow and larger decks to work with, not much has changed over the last five years. For 2018, I'd like to see some new/more aggressive innovation in RTAs ... Definitely more top airflow or leak-free/condensation free options, I'd say that's probably the most innovative thing I've seen in the last five years. Perhaps some more lifted deck designs that get the coils closer to the chimney/tip for better flavor ... also maybe more MTL with adjustments for allowing RDTL that leverage a top airflow design (I'd say I'm right in the middle of MTL and DTL, I like / prefer both styles depending on my mood/environment).

I've seen/tested a lot of tanks with juice flow control/JFC ... I'm not convinced this is needed. Wicking can be adjusted easily to accommodate the tank/liquid ...

Anyway, looking forward to seeing some new stuff coming out in the next year ... let's see what can beat this Zeus. It's not perfect, but it's definitely the best for me right now!

After trying a couple rtas with jfc I've decided it improves nothing and raises the chances of leaking. Don't even consider any with jfc anymore.

With the Aromamizer Plus' 20ml's of juice perched atop of the LUX, I like the fact that I can shut off the JFC at night and not worry about a possible mess to clean up due to something happening with wicking. A JFC for me is either off for filling or on for vaping, I find it quite valuable.

I did have the BFDFT dump all 9ml's out one night due too bad machining, and I don't trust that tank to this day even though CCI replaced it completely.

That is not fair, JFC does not contribute to leaking. The absent of JFC is not the reason why Nano and Zeus don't leak, instead, it is the design of the base that prevents seeping or leaking. The whole bottom part of the base serves as juice cup - this is the main reason why they are leak proof. But this kind of leak proof base design has a price to pay - the bottom air flow which is definitely more efficient than top air flow... further more, just because the air need to move from top down to the deck, space must be reserved on the side that means smaller deck diameter...

SMOK tanks don't have JFC (eg SMOK TFV8 and etc) but have similar base design like Merlin, Govad and so on, they all leak or seep sooner or later. For this type of tank, the present of JFC at least serves 1 obvious function: it helps in preventing or minimizing the chance of leaking when refill.
