Gen Con 2012

As of today, unofficial events start in 2 weeks with the official kick off two days afterwards and I want to know if any vapers are going to Gen Con this year.

Can anyone make me feel a pang of jealousy by flaunting their You Too Can Cthulhu tickets?
Anyone else grap seats at any of the Damsels skits/plays?
Are you hitting True Dungeon this year? (Any lunitics doing nightmare grinds?)
Any SPA'ers taking on Tai Chi, Yoga, or the Brewery Tour?
Should I finally take the time and learn how to play 4-player chess?
Anyone hosting pickup games?
Which event/release/vendor/sight are you looking forward to? (Or is everyone just hanging back for when Nichelle Nichols intro's the new Catan?)

I'm lookin' at Mossy, Nicblazer, Legion13, and VaporPhreak in particular...

Yeah, I'm the tall guy. Not sure about the rest... I'm mostly in the middle because I'm the only one that can lift the two guys backflipping over the line high enough so they can complete the flip and land. Well, that and I kinda' look like Little John to begin with.

One of those vid's has me proposing to my wife whom you've met. The wig she is wearing may throw the recognition a bit off. (I'm told I'm pretty recognizable with or without the extra hair.)

I am very impatiently waiting for gen con. I have of games I want to see red shirts and Mercs are a few. I may hit up the DnD panel. Mostly I can't wait too see industry people I don't see much of anymore

Ah, Red Shirts, yep. My sons have a regular Meck's game so I've heard of them.

I usually make a point of spending some time in Hickman's, and Steve Jackson's booths. Also, always have to see what North Star and Bustin' A Gut are playtesting.

Were you in the industry at one point zipthehuh?

Not really I worked at a shop whose owner was heavily involved with GAMA, so we had a lot of members pass through regularly. I also play tested for a couple different CCG's in the past. So I have met a lot of people along the way and Gen Con is one of the few times they are all in the same place.

Heh, poor Kay thought my first post was cryptic. With that post, only someone who already should know about Gen Con would understand it.

I never got into CCG's myself....Yep...Munchkin & NWO aren't CCG's so I can still say that. (Wish I could figure out what happened to that NWO deck since it's out of print now.)

God, I'd love to go this year. Last year was a blast and a half. Alas, times are tough and I can't afford tickets!

That's a shame GR, but I know how it is. I just barely managed to avoid pulling out my Gen Con funds during the 2 times I've been unemployed since the last one. Don't have much eatin-out money and kinda' brown bagging it, but managed to cover badges, tickets, and a room.

Yeah, I was really hoping to go but those funds I had got pulled out a few months ago. But I'll be saving up for next year and hopefully, I'll be able to keep them this time.

I think saving for gen con has been tough on everyone. Luckily my wife and I along with 6 very close friends split a room every year

You could always go to gencon.com and register an account so you can get the reminder emails...

Or grab the special priced Sunday pass this year 8/19 and get a chance to see a small fraction of what goes on. (I've been going for over a decade and I haven't seen it all yet.)

We could easily commute we are about 40 minutes north, but we like being able to not have to worry about getting up so early or staying late. We also think it adds to the experience

A little over an hour north, with light traffic, from the ICC and have done the commute thing. It does take away from some stuff. (some of the adults only entertainment and the masquerade ball are a real bear when driving before and after each day.)

Does anyone go for the guests of honor? I've got a friend who's looking forward to getting an autograph from the lady who played Uhura. Never been an autograph/celebrity kinda' person. One year i accidentally ended up having a conversation with Traci Lords and another friend nearly had a fit because i didn't now who i was talking to.

I tend to enjoy talking to the developers more. Mostly to delve the train of thought that went into the product.

(If you can find the guy who created Zombies Hate Coffee, there's a thought pattern that is tough to follow...Jim's his name...odd duck...I like odd ducks.)

But, then i got a kick out of getting a picture with Duct Tape Girl, so there's two more odd ducks. (Should have told her about the time my oldest son walked into a column because he was watching her walk past in one of her tape only outfits.)

I occasionally get autographs. I have David kerridean (sp) he was a jerk. I have met wil Wheaton a few times (he always get sick after conventions so he won't touch anyone) I talked with him and Felecia Day most recently at origins. I will probably get Nichelle Nicole's ( ohura) autograph

Now that I know your an hour north of the IIC, where about are you I'm in Anderson
