I have done a bit of searching and read some things about maintaining the protank. Most places I look simply say,,,"do this",,,,without much detail on why. I was hoping to hear how others go about keeping their protank up and running. I do the general suggested,,I guess,,i rinse the tank after every tankfull,,,,and I pull and rinse the coil after every 3 tanks,,using piping hot water,,seems to work ok,,,but I read a few folks with methods involving alcohol or vodka,,,dry burns and such. I suspect that this has been covered in other discussions,,but when I searched specificly,,,it seemed that my answers may have been buried deep within a thousand other threads.
So what have you tried? what have you done differently and why?

This seems like a good idea if you like tinkering all the time..... like it do :) But at about a dollar a coil, that lasts a week or two, just putting on new ones is not a bad option.

The coils I build out perform the stock ones so it's a plus for me.

Great video, JZ PAINT WORKZ, thanks for posting it. This is the first time (noob here) I've really understood what dry burning is all about.

Just have to ask one stupid question, though. (I try to ask at least one stupid question every day.) Do you remove ALL the wicks before dry burning? Or only the top one. (Seems to me you'd need to remove all of them, or the ones you left would burn up! But that's what stupid questions are for...) TIA

Hmmm, if you remove all the wicks, what will you be dry burning? :)

Only remove the "flavor wicks" that lay on the top. The dry burning is actually burning off and removing gunk from the wire coil. The wicking that the coils are around are made from unburnable silica material. You have to remove the top flavor wicks to see what you're doing while dry burning.

You may need to clean off some ash from them after a dry burn. I just got through dry burning a really cruddy one, and forgot to clean off the ash. Blech flavor, so I'll throw it back in some PGA for a little soak and another quick burn.
