General questions about modding

I just received my order from madvapes. I ordered a 510 connector, and a color changing LED that came with a 470 ohm resistor.

My intent is to modify my wifes old cellphone which has a 3.7v, 1100 mAh battery. I'm not trying to make a mod that works as both a cellphone and a PV, just a PV.

I plan on drilling out the aerial connection to fit the 510 connector into, and wiring one of the buttons on the side of the phone to activate it. The rest of the guts I plan to scrap as much as possible and turn into storage space.

My question(s) are these:

Do I need to wire the switch/connector in parallel to the resistor and LED? Or should I wire it in series? How should the general flow be: from the positive of the battery to the switch, to the connector and back to the negative of the battery?

I'm assuming that I need to put the resistor before the LED. Is that correct?

LED's need a positive and a negative to work. Doesn't matter what side the resistor get put on it will do it's job.
